Painterly Fine Art September Update...i Miss You!!!

Hello my painterly creators and friends,

It has been a very busy summer for me, but I have tried to be diligent in visiting and maintaining Painterly Fine Art as a premier show case of the best paintings and most dedicated artists. I keep the group small on purpose. Anyone not willing to at least pretend to know the rules get’s promptly deleted.

In featuring work, I tend to feature artists that are more active. Artists who come back and say something. Being featured is an honor, that is not bestowed on all works. If you think I overlooked your masterpiece, SUBMIT AGAIN!! If your painting was rejected, find out why. http://fineartamerica.com/groups/painterly-fine-art--1-per-day.html?showmessage=true&messageid=1111451

Since the beginning of the year our discussions have really died down. I want everyone to understand that it is OUR DISCUSSIONS that rank us among the many groups here on FAA. If we do not maintain our high ranking (preferable very high), it is unlikely we will get noticed. And this group is for noticing!! And for collaborating.
Please review the RULES http://fineartamerica.com/groups/painterly-fine-art--1-per-day.html?showmessage=true&messageid=1044846! Follow the links as to how to get noticed on FAA. I assure you my advice works. If you have quality works and follow the strategies I have offered, you will sell on FAA.

Create a discussion thread for your work only, where you show off your paintings, and discuss the inspirations behind them. Don’t just copy and paste from you FAA descriptions as this can jeopardize you ranking. But talk about it. Talk about the light, the colors, composition. Discuss where you were and offer historical context. Describe your techniques and methodology. You would be surprised how many collectors want to know.

Take advantage of showing off your featured works. Post the work that was featured. I love the thank you’s, but I also love to read about the work. Describe it. SEARCH ENGINES DON'T SEE PHOTOS! You have to describe them.

Promote each other, post your favorites. Often much of the work submitted is so good that it is difficult to choose. I have a biased point of view. I need checks and balances to that. Let’s discuss what we like and why!

Start discussions on painterly topics. Are you struggling with a painting? Have an awesome event coming up? Learning a new technique? Let’s discuss!! Found a great way to promote your work? It is ok to critique if an artist asks for it. It’s ok to have apposing views. It’s good for us. Be descriptive in your support or objections. You can post a gripe of how I administer, propose changes, even volunteer to help. As long as we discuss it in our group it will help our visibility.

Post your links, videos, and contact information. Please. If your thread get’s closed due to inactivity, post it again.

Abby has continued to make it clear that just dumping images onto a thread doesn't do anything to promote our work, across search engines.
http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2654084

So I'm asking everyone to write a little something when you post an image. Most of our members are very good about that, but I've noticed less and less interaction and discussion in our group. This does not bode well for our group. And to be direct, I am slowly becoming less motivated to run this group. Why have it, if there is no interaction? Why have it if our discussion threads aren’t picked up by search engines?

Please, when you submit your images stop by and chat. Select someone's image you would like to feature and tell us why. Show off your featured paintings and say a little about them. This is where strategic descriptive key words are very important. Our collectors want to know about us!!

Let’s get some momentum back into this lovely group. Blessings and best wishes to all.

~Tali, and the Painted Ladies

PS Please reply to this thread so I know you are pretending to read it and understand. Otherwise I may need to recall virtual guillotine to our membership. I might not be joking. ;)

I have read this (for real! - I did not just pretend to read it, ha ha!) and I understand. I have no gripes; I am just not prolific in this genre, I am afraid, and don't have a piece to post all that often. However, I enjoy being a member of the group because the works here are of such high quality. Count me as your #4 response. Eloise

Message read. I'm sorry if I've been lax in participating here. I've got a lot on my plate right now, and like Eloise, I'm not prolific in this genre.

Dear Talya, it is a hearty message to this wonderful group's members, to which I am proud to belong!
A group has its ups and downs, depending on our input and the competition. However, it is evident that this group is number one for us painters, and whatever was lost to curiosity perhaps in upcoming other groups, will return to you. Because your group represents PAINTERLY quality that IS UNIQUE and lasts!
Because we can only be in so many places at once due to time and effort restrictions, I want to be selective in my allegiance to groups. Some are right for me and others are to be avoided even if they win group prizes from our organizers at FAA. (That doesn't mean for the works that these groups represent!)
Let's be and stay artists! I want to be surrounded by other great artists' works. I want to compare this group to the Paris art life in the 1920's, a lively bohemian artists' place, as compared to other groups that compare to NYC Chelsea 2015, a so called artist showcase behind closed doors and void of spirit.
I hope other artists agree to bring this spirit into this group again.

Thanks Talya for your time and effort encouraging us to participate more. As you say it is in our best interest to get noticed by buyers! This is a great Faa group and I am so pleased to be a part of it. Really excellent artists here with fantastic work that always inspires!
As Summer ends and things slow down, I am sure you will see much more participation :-)

I was just sitting beside myself, painting quietly. Than I've got Talya' message, looked at the calendar and realized that a year passed. Sorry!

Sometimes I think FAA is a Facebook of the Arts. I don't have enough time for all of my painting, so where can I find time to schmoose?
While I try to look at all of the art in all of the groups, I don't choose favorites. I follow a couple of people who are choosing ten "favorites" a day.Hmmm. It is a devaluation of the term!! I will make an effort to try and build your group, but if it turns into a one way street, I'm done. I prefer people's tone when writing to me NOT to be belligerent, and skip the "or else"

Thanks, Tayla. Read it. I agree with Greta, who also has a lovely group. This is one of the best groups for painters, and I'd like to be more involved. I have a lot to deal with in life at the moment, but will try to contribute soon and follow your excellent suggestions. One point I want to mention is that I am selective about who I support, but often my support of those talented artists I choose to follow turns out to be a one way street, and I have been disappointed by that. Many of the photographers are very supportive of each other. I hope things will improve very soon and this group will grow rapidly in activity and ranking.

Hi Tanya!
Thank you so much for all you do! I'm one of the members who never writes anything, but that's a result of being too busy with my day job (ugh!) family, etc. Sorry for the lack of interaction from me. I dearly cherish your group.

Talya - well said. I have to admit I am on the point of quitting FAA because of 2 reasons:

1) I don't like the style of presentation of art on our homepages compared to previous formats.

2) The lack meaningful of discussion of the type that you are seeking - happy to give it one last go.

I have been too long absent and just now read this message. Recently my metalwork has been accepted into a gallery and have been focusing on that. Boy that has taken a lot of energy and I am still not up to speed. I had planned to upload holiday images in August but am just now getting to it. Will try and stay on top of it better.
