How Do I Add Active Url To Artist Website?

So I'm trying to add a website address that will direct you to my Facebook fan page on the sidebar text of my FAA artist website. I copied and pasted the link to the side bar text area under follow me on Facebook, but it is not an active link. Is there away to make it active, so people can just click it instead of having to copy and paste it into their browser?

Your Facebook page should direct folks here, not the latter. I mean, people do this all the time and it's obviously a personal choice. But if someone is on your AW site, which includes no other links anywhere else, why do you want to give them an out to go somewhere else? it's like having a brick and mortar store and when they ask a question, you send them to another store a few blocks over never knowing if they get there in the first place.

What's the first thing you do when you go to Facebook? If you're like me, you click on the red notification buttons and forget why you were there in the first place.

I agree with Joseph. Keep you customers on your AW site. Don't give them an out.

I was thinking of doing that so that people can follow my activites. Such as new post to my website, upcoming shooting locations, ect. Many businesses do this. A lot of people would rather follow a business on facebook than sign up for an email list. I think I should have all options avalible for my customers. Plus I will add the shopping cart to the facebook page to give them the option to shop there or on the website. I can only see this as a win win.

I do understand that. I just know I have more followers on FAA than I do on my Facebook business page. You're right about other businesses doing that though. It was just my opinion.

You can create a live link in your bio on the FAA site, but not on your AW page.

I have a link to the "about" page on my personal website. If you look at my profile here, it's a text link. If you were to look at my AW page, it's just a visible link.

If you want to link to your social media on your AW, you'll have to list your links:

www.facebook.com/curious3d
www.twitter.com/curious3d

etc.

You can put a live link on the about page of your AW site. You can have different text on about page unlike FAA.

Ok everyone I figured it out. I found the instruction here on the Facebook developers site.

https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/follow-button

Followed the instructions, and it worked. Was able to place it on the side bar and the about section on my personal website.

Steve, it's not working when I click on it. I get an error code. I don't think we are allowed those kind of links. You can post an HTML link

You have to use your social media sites to lead people to your AW or - better - to your personal website, not the other way.

Thats weird Jessica, cause when I click it, it takes me to a log into Facebook box.

I get what Colin and Joseph are saying, especially the "other way around" part. When I hand out a business card or just verbally tell some one to "check out my website stevesgreatpics.com", Having the link gives them an easy way to keep current on new pics posted, and other things that i mentioned above. Plus it seems to me now days that a lot of people hate giving out there email address anymore because fear of being bombarded with spam. This will give them a different option to stay informed.

Could someone else try out the button? Since I'm already following my page, when I log in from the link it doesn't appear to do anything. Not sure if its because it doesn't work or because I'm already following.

The button does not work. Shows an error.

I had one for awhile and removed it...agree with those that say why would you want to direct people away from where they can buy your work.

Thanks for the test Val. So I just changed it to a different button that they had available. Hopefully this one works right. Who knows they might of discontinued that feature this year, I've heard they have changed a lot of features in 2015. But back to why I think I should use this feature.

When I add the feature they will be able to buy right off that page.

Try the the FB button on my site and let me know if it works. :) Thanks everyone!

Ok, some people said it works some said it doesn't. Ive decided to just put the url on the page, don't understand why it not active. I guess if people want to follow that link they will have to copy and paste to their browser. Not really getting any good responses here on how to do it right.

You can use html code to put a link in your bio, but not an FB button.

Here is a code generator from Abbie:
