what exactly are we looking at here?

---Mike Savad

Christina Butler

Well they did an artist with a self portrait like this but I don't know what artist

Mike Savad

it doesn't leave a lot to go on. best you can do is look up the places you might have thought you saw it. there are many artists here, it may be impossible to track down one like this... which honestly looks a bit like an IKEA ad...

A little confused Christine. Are you looking for an artist that creates portraits in the lopsided, or are you looking for a FAA member that does that works?
Even your avatar is sideways...

Cynthia Decker

Um, you might be holding your camera wrong. ;)

Christine you're going to have to give us some more information so we can try to help you.

Christina Butler

Well I didn't mean for it to be side ways like that but I'm looking for an artist that made their self portrait like this it should be a well know. Artist atleast

Mike Savad

what i would try doing is this:

stand in front of a blank wall. and repose.
shoot.
turn the image sideways in a graphic viewer

then upload that to google and see if it finds anything like that. there is just too much going on in that scene and being sideways is even harder to know. i can't imagine people remembering what an avatar looks like unless its distinguished like mine.

if you can go through your computer's cache, you might be able to find it there and reverse search that. you'll need a graphic browser, and you'll need to find where the cache is stored.

Not enough to go on ... but Salvador Dali comes to mind... Philippe Halsman photographed Dali on many occasions jumping along with things flying through the air...
Halsman also did a series of photographs/portraits of people jumping.

Okay I made the the picture my profile picture can tell me now lol

Christina Butler

So can anyone tell me the artist that did a self portrait like this (my profile picture)

Ed Meredith

NO not me...

Mike Savad

no. there isn't enough to go on. i see two people in what looks like an IKEA ad, or something justin bieber might be in.

before the cache is gone, i suggest looking there first, and looking for that image in google. its the only way your going to find it.

Well it's for my class basically we have to guess for fun and I can not find out which artist it is because yeah I'm not a art buff

Mike Savad

that's a near impossible assignment, your teacher must hate you... :)

on this site alone there might be a 100,000 artists. and it may not be an artist that made it. it might have been anyone with photoshop. you would have to haunt every twitter and facebook page on earth to find something like that.

if its just for fun simply tell them - i think Mike Savad made it, you can find him at MikeSavad.com. and while its not, they will have a good time anyway because i'm all about art.

Mike Savad

did your teacher by any chance, give you the actual picture? because you can do a reverse search on that and it may turn up. just a shot with your phone is enough. google image search or tineye, and it may be found that way.

Could it be Salvador Dali as seen here?

https://arts260.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/dali1.jpg

I also seem to recall some photos of Keith Herring like that.

What is this? Ask an artist day?

I can not see any image at all. It could be me.

the avatar is the picture. i guess she though that making it much smaller would make it easier to see or something. but basically she's asking us to do her homework for her.

Bizarro - I think Mike's right. Pop the homework on the web and go back to watching YouTube videos.

Dali did a whole series of stop-action flash self-portrait photos which might be seen as vaguely similar to the avatar photo. As a high-speed-flash photographer, I wouldn't count that as a strong resemblance, though. Dali's photos featured objects apparently suspended in mid-air. The avatar, not so much. Before I'd call them similar I would like to see parallel composition, or other strong similarities.

Mike Savad

i'd like to see the original photo, unless that was the original. hope she comes back and tells us the answer.

i so doubt its this

but it fits the first person. this is a japanese band, making fun of boy bands, and in turn became a sensation themselves for a bit. i wish it was a bit clearer, but its like 9 years old or more.

Jim Whalen...I bet you're right! I bet it's those Keith Haring figures.

Cynthia Decker

That's just a super obscure assignment. Did she give you a time period, a country, an art genre?

I don't think we're getting all the information here.

David Bridburg

Mike,

Are you helping them break into the American market?

Good luck with that.

Dave

yatta was a hit for a while when it came out. it was so absurd a number of videos came out making fun of the video that was designed to make fun of other videos. i'm not sure if they made a second song though. i place that one right around mambo number 5. when 6 came out, it sounded the same.

i guess that girl isn't coming back, oh well, we shall never know.

kind of reminds me of homework someone had. the teacher had the look up the weather in a given country. that stuff changes constantly...

but in the end, i can't help but think this was yet another experiment from sooner or jean.
