Prices On Digital Pictures

I don't offer a lot of my art on digital because its signed and it's art, not photogaphy. I want to do more, but I haven't yet.

But....

Some of my Christmas designs I DO want to offer digitally. I know. I should have already had them out there, but now is better than never. So two questions....
Prices. Shutterfly is really low and Getty is really high, so what do you guys do? How do you price your digital work? How do you price your Christmas designs?

Also, I'd really like to, in this case, put my tee-shirt design on the digital site too. I guess there's no way to do that?

Thanks and Iguana Wish You A Merry Christmas!

ignore what other sites price things at. just price them how you want. i'm not sure what you mean by digital work. its all digital. and in my case, its all priced the same way.

I think you mean Shutterstock not Shutterfly and you are talking about licensing or selling POD images?

Licensing is a whole different animal than selling direct to consumers.

Sorry. Yes Shutterstock. And I call them digital because that's how the customer receives them....not printed on something.

Oh! You mean digital files? You want to sell stock?

"I don't offer a lot of my art on digital because its signed and it's art, not photogaphy. "

I am not sure I totally understand this statement, but for the most part, I don't think the overall general, art buying public is all that interested in what is art and what is photography (your separation, not mine) and what is digital and what is is not.

I think for the most part, if they like the image and like the price, they buy it. And I would price them all the same on all of the different products.

And your Iguana Wish You A Merry Christmas is fantastic! I love it on that T-Shirt!

Licencing is selling certain rights to a professional to use in commercial applications. They get a digital file of the size they purchase and can use it in limited ways according to the contract. The artist retains the copyright.

Selling artwork and products - the digital file is held by FAA/Pixels and used only to produce the item. The buyer never gets the digital file only the product they purchase. The artist retains the copyright.

How do I price my images and Christmas designs? The same way. If I offer them as stock I use an agency who deals with a larger group of designers and provides multiple sales a day.

How do I price my artwork - Christmas or otherwise? Over time I've developed my own personal pricing level that seems to work with what I am offering and what buyers are willing to pay.
