Critique Please

I created this as a note card but want to do a large painting. I like the idea of stain glass effect.
My questions should the black lines be bolder, and what other changes would improve this image ?

What a lovely striking painting!

I'm not sure that making the black lines bolder, if by that you mean thicker, would add anything to the piece.

I love that rose, Anne, and the soft palette you used for the stained glass. Just a couple of things...the terminology is "stained" glass, and I wish that petal on the left was not cut off.

if this were real stained glass, the lines would all connect within itself, the colors would not spill over the black parts. and the lines wouldn't go beyond, you have many here where the edges aren't neat. it just looks roughly drawn on. further, stained glass has to be divided or it will break. so things like the leaf in the blue, would have an extra line in it. your name is kind of huge and hard to read in there.

ideally i think the lines should be neater, placed over the color, not under. it should be thinner, and be complete, or no one will understand its supposed to be stained glass. right now it looks like a rough cartoon.

Hmmm..... hard to tell. I think if the black lines were bolder, the black lines may take away from the rose and the lines may dominate in your image.
I am not at all a painter though.
I like the image a lot as is.

Depending on whether you wish to push more depth and I understand if you do not, the colors of your background could be made more pale or transparent compared to those of the rose which can be made more bold to force the eye to the rose. It's a decision, no right or wrong. You may not wish to create more depth. I would be a little hard pressed to say where the light is coming from in the image but again that may not be a concern for you.

Have you Googled your subject? I find images to be inspiring and show far better than descriptions the possibilities. Everyone has a different preference/opinion of how they would do it. If someone suggests something that I think is not my style I usually don't consider it. If I see an image I can see the possibility, it has convinced me many times to create an artwork I would never have considered.
