So, after telling me what you guys were thinking of shooting over the weekend I sure would like to see some of your work! Lets see the best One from the weekend! Please limit images to two so we don't totally kill everyone's load time, and Please Please say something about why you took them, I don't want this to be an image dump, so please don't "Dump" up my thread.
These are my favorite two from the weekend. This one was taken at Swan Lake and Iris Gardens in Sumter, SC. I had finished stalking birds in the lower part of the "Swamp side" and was checking out some cool red flowers (I am assuming lily of some sort but will ID later) When I saw the guy below. At first he was just standing there and I had the passing thought of "You have enough Herons, move along"-but Itchy clicky finger won. I had to shoot him in available light as I did not want to use my flash and interfere with what he was doing-I try to be seamless when shooting nature) So I went to ISO 400 with 1/60 shutter speed, Handheld as I was not thinking he would do anything cool-The he gets into his hunter stance and then BAZINGA! Total catch of the day, even if it is a bit softer than I like.
This next one I just love. This little guy is the first hummingbird I have ever captured in the wild-meaning not in my yard or on a feeder. Also at Swan Lake, I heard the familiar hummingbird battle sounds near a crepe myrtle tree, that also had some orange trumpet vines growing in it. I was lucky as it was about 3 in the afternoon and I was able to shoot with available light. Sadly for me it was about 97 degrees and no shade from which to stalk my prey. I love how the bright sun made his feathers glow like gold. I got many shots, but this was my favorite of him.
So let me see yours.
Please no dumping!

I finally got the barn re-shoot yesterday afternoon that I've been meaning to do for awhile. I'm posting both versions (distant and closer views) since we can post two, and it's the only thing I got this weekend :) . This was shot from my truck while stopped in the road (two-lane asphalt, county). No shoulder to pull over onto, just a deep ditch. The foreground is across the top of a cornfield, as there are acres and acres of it around here.
D7100, 18-140 lens:
Rural Barn: 1/100 sec @ f22, focal length 55mm, ISO 200
Rural Barn 2: 1/200 sec @ f22, focal length 116mm, ISO 400
Shooting "platform": Front seat of F-150, through rolled-down window. :)

What if I post two then change my mind later about which is my fav? And the images, do they have to be actually shot this past weekend or does processed count?

Well, I went into London yesterday as planned, but had less time than expected before the family needed to head home.
Was hoping for heavy rain and trying for reflections in puddles of some of the sights, but, for once the rain was late and it was just dull and grey. This is the skatepark at the South Bank, liked the colourful graffiti against the dull light and concrete.
This is St Paul's Cathedral from The Millennium Bridge as the rain started. Dull and grey, flat light, so modified in Lightroom, using Dehaze, vibrancy and clarity......like the mood of this with the limited splashes of colour.

I really liked this one as it is a building I shot early early on in my photography career with my first P&S and the oldest image I have ever sold.
I have always wanted to reshoot it with a "really good camera" and the right glass. The sky cooperated and cave me some clouds and I was in the right place with the right equipment and finally reshot it...
I reserve my second image post until I have at least edited a few more.

Nice shots so far. I love old barns, as anyone can see from my portfolio. The colors in the skate park graffiti are cool-I photographed a water tower with some graffiti once and only after posting it actually read the graffiti and it was bad words....
That is a neat sky scraper JC, glad you decided to be a good kid.
Shot this weekend of course......

Chasing Pharoah! Nikon 5100 ISO 1000 800@5.6
Advantages of DX= 200 mm equivalent to 300FX Disadvantages of 55-200mm Nikon lens with max of 5.6= not as sharp as could have been if I had a 2.8 and dropping the ISO to reduce noise. Faster FPS and better motor would have been nice also. Advantages of more megapixels than my D-40= able to crop out other horses in the way.
Changed this image on previously uploaded one. Was playing around with slower shutting speed while trying to pan.

Took my son biking along the Bay Trail in the East Bay, CA from Pt Isabel (far right on map) to the Historic Ford Assembly Plant in The Rosie The Riveter Park in Richmond, CA (middle on map). -W
The old Ford Assembly Plant on Richmond's waterfront survived the end of its car-assembling years, a major earthquake, water damage, vandals and multiple proposals for its demolition to witness a rebirth that has now captured national acclaim. The building, now called Ford Point, is one of Richmond's historic gems and is part of the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home front National Historic Park. Workers in the 1930s assembled cars there and routed them to dealers in Northern California and Hawaii. In 1942, the plant switched to assembling thousands of jeeps, tanks and other military vehicles as part of the World War II home front effort. The plant processed 60,000 tanks plus other combat vehicles including Army trucks, half-tracks tank destroyers, personnel carriers, scout cars, amphibious tanks, lift trucks, snow plows, and bomb lift trucks. -rosietheriveter.org
Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of the United States, representing the American women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the military. Rosie the Riveter is commonly used as a symbol of feminism and women's economic power. Use of similar images of women war workers appeared in other countries such as Britain and Australia. Images of women workers were widespread in the media as government posters and commercial advertising was heavily used by the government to encourage women to volunteer for wartime service in factories. -wikipedia

As stated in the earlier thread, my camera was focused on my three-year old granddaughter's birthday celebration. I won't post those here, but I did manage to get out for an early morning walk. Growing along side a nautical shop were some morning glory flowers. Just one more reason to love mornings.

I did get out for a bit with my DSLR Saturday afternoon. I had been wanting to get something on the Carnival Valor for months now. It only comes in on Saturday. Well the weather co-operated. Actually it was one of the hottest days of the year and I was happy to get catch the boat leaving and get back into AC. I also did some phonography, while out and about. It will be a long time before I get to processing that stuff.

I took a walk around Providence RI Friday night with a couple of photographer friends. We set out to do a little night time photography, hoping to catch and blur the lights from moving cars and things of that nature. I have two images I'm quite happy with. One of the Providence Biltmore, and the other is the Manchester St Power Station. Both are pretty iconic sites in Rhode Islands capitol city.

I got a few images, but like JC I reserve my second one until a get a couple more up on the site.
This is a sunset at Starvation Reservoir here in Utah, this is in the Uinta basin near Duchesne, the conditions here are so harsh that in the early days people tried to settle on the Strawberry river, but the winters are so cold, and the growing season so short that no one could "stick it out", when they left they nick named the area Starvation.
Fires here in Utah have caused the smoke in the foot hills, and the orange/red color to the horizon.
This is an HDR photograph of Starvation.

Went down to Cape Vincent lighthouse to do some night shots. I have been there a couple times before for sunset but it was too cloudy for stars. I have been wanting to do some milky way shots there. Well, it was a clear night with lots of stars but the moon screwed me from getting the milky way shots I wanted. But it still made for some decent pictures.

This was an unexpected result, not the damselfly but the colors that formed in the background, I shot this while working on screening in a section of a barn overhang at a customers ranch. There were other amazing insects around but I was in a bit of a rush. But I'm happy with damsel in distress.

Great stuff,
This is my shot from the weekend - this is the Superstition Mountains outside of Phoenix, taken from just outside the Lost Dutchman State Park, and is one of my favorite places to shoot.
They are called the Superstition Mountains because, of course, there is still millions of dollars of gold from a mine that Jacob Waltz found in the late 1800s, and kept secret - and has never been found. The mystery continues!!!
