New Here, Getting Aquainted And Trying To Promote Myself:)

Hi all,
I'm still new here, though I've uploaded some of my art. I am really wanting to promote my art more as a business. Everyone says I should but I haven't really put the effort in. I do have a website that I post my paintings to. I do custom pet portraits but also enjoy painting and drawing lots of other stuff too. I also made my self a facebook page which is cool, though I don't want to be spammy or anything to my friends and family. I am also going to get business cards made to hand out to clients as I do pet sitting as well and they would be perfect candidates for pet portraits. I'm just looking for ideas to get ranked higher in websearches and what has been successful to you guys. I know it will take awhile, but I want to invest in the right areas rather than waste time in the wrong areas. Also how should I promote my facebook page and such? I am excited and will probably get a paid account once I reach 25 images just so I can get the extra features. I also ordered a print of one of my portraits so I can see what it looks like in real life:) I am enjoying the site so far and look forward to what I can do with it.
