Being one of those people who has the 8-5 mundane job all week I look forward to shooting on the weekends. I have a football team shoot Friday night, but the rest of the weekend is mine all mine! I keep telling myself I am going to go to Charleston, SC for a day trip, but still have not gone, so that is always on the maybe list. It is nearly two hours away and is one of those trips I really should take someone with me, but I don't like people, so.....Next on the maybe list is tracking down a covered bridge I have heard tales about being in Columbia, SC. The latter is probably going to be the plan as that is the only location my husband has ever told me he wants me to find and take (it is probably in a highly dangerous area and he wants me to get abducted by aliens) I have not been out to Swan Lake since I found the red headed woodpeckers, but feel I am still a little burned out on there until the weather changes.
So what are you guys doing?

I think I am going to try some low-key images, colour and b+w. That said, first of all I have to convince my son to visit...... He's my model.... Lol

I'm keeping an eye on the weather... It's supposed to be stormy/thunder storms this weekend in the northeast. The potential is probably there for some interesting skies.
Besides that I'm considering shooting some iconic lit up store fronts/bars/restaurants etc at night... With the reflective wet ground it might produce some interesting shots.

If I go to Columbia looking for that covered bridge there will be tons of option-street shots in the vista, hilly country shots in the suburbs, the state house, the zoo-lots of options.....I should google for that bridge......

Finally got one of my two 10x10 rooms in shape to shoot in. Unfortunately, it was mostly by shoving half the stuff into the other 10x10 room.
But, I have space for one tabletop and I'm going to shoot a pile of stuff for ebay, both to clear it out and hopefully raise some more cash for props and material for my new project.

Not sure yet... possibly will be going to Downtown Birmingham and shooting around in some "untouched" places :) I am in need of an adventure!

@Marlene, Cmon you know there is something...or something you want to shoot! :)
@David Wish I had a room for stills-tiny house.....I am confined to a small corner with a geriatric recliner and a laptop (and all my gear shoved in the corner behind it)
@Meike - EEEw guests...yukky.
@Shelby - Birmingham is beautiful with lots to shoot. Have a great time.

I've been shooting...now I need to pay attention to house things and organizing/sifting through office receipts and paper stuff...BLEH! Have to get it done, I think the mess is giving me bad karma...

Well we bought a manufactured home and it's being delivered tomorrow so I will be shooting pics of it but probably nothing to upload here unless I see something interested outside while I have my camera out. So super excited about the house. My backdoor will face the pasture field :)

Extremely busy this weekend, I won't be able to do any photo shooting, but entertaining people in the house.
Hi, Janice.

I don't plan weekend shoots. Too many people are out and about and getting in the shots, disturbing wildlife or just being annoying. If I do anything it will be a ride out to cattle country. Its easier without the commuter traffic and if I go early enough, I can be done with my shoot before the tourists show up. Nothing worse then tourists pulling over to see what you are doing, which really ruined my last ranch trip. Any of the beach towns is a non starter no matter how early you go.
When I had a day job I would be in position to shoot before sunrise and be done in time to go to work.

Alicia the roadtrip sounds like a great opportunity for multiple photos - and I have found Google to be a fantastic search tool to plan photo excursions/shoots. Once location is found I will generally spend 10 -30 looking at the Google maps street view of the surrounding area to see if there is something else that might be a great photo op. Found a few things that way.
As for what is on my plate this weekend....lots of things to attend to in the household, but if time, experiment in some abstracts and start taking the dozen or so photos needed to put together a photo composite project that I have had on the back burner for far too long.

I shall probably just shoot the breeze with my friends on FAA ;-)

My weekend shoots are not "Planned" per say, I get in the car with my gear and roll. I am thinking of going to a little place called pomeria, on the outskirts of Columbia, SC.

Alicia, thanks for letting me borrow this thread to say hello to Janice.
Hope you have a great weekend and take many good photos!

Oops! I was not aware that snaps seems to be a violent expression??! My apologies! English is not my mother tongue.
Alicia: LOL, it is gonna be busy...Have a good weekend yourself.

I am going to Mossy Glenn Hollow in NE Iowa. Extremely rugged and rough, going to specifically shoot the moss green boulders and a cascading spring in time exposure. Bringing my son with as it was no recommended to go alone. Also local folklore tells the place is haunted. Should be fun for this old man.

Patrick that is quite cool!
Ugh, Football team shots tonight (boring)
Tomorrow I was thinking Pomeria, but due to dear hubby I will have to keep it closer to home....Maybe a woodpecker chase is in order, or maybe hit some backroads I have not yet ventured to....

Looks like its going to be a rainy weekend on the beach. Maybe some dark and moody stuff suitable for a mystery or horror novel. At least the beach will be free of people.

@Mario-I love the golden orb spiders. They have such a wide range of color and are very active. I love to come out in the morning when the dew is on the ground or after a rain and get the drops on their intricate webs. I went to the zoo a few weeks ago and they had webs everywhere with the big old critters.

Congratulations, JC!
I'm planning a day with the kids tomorrow, so I'm not surethere will be any photography tomorrow unless we just run up on something. I want to take them to a movie. Sunday might be a different animal depending on the weather. There's a couple of railroad things in my area I need to go shoot and might actually be able to arrange a trip to the shop of one, but maybe not on this kind of short notice.

A park rededication, family cookout, and 4 yo. Girls birthday party (tmnt theme). All for two different sides of the gfs family. Plus whatever catches my eye on Sunday.

I noticed Wednesday that the sun now rises behind a lone round granite uplift almost perfectly centered. Of course the weather denied me a chance at it past two days with empty threats of rain but should be clearer in the morning. Will be even better if there are some other clouds to set it off that much more but not needed. After that it all depends on how far and what direction I decide to drive. Still on the hunt for old abandoned buildings out in the country that can be photographed even if just from a distance.

I am hoping the river is busy on Sunday. Though I really need to go through my backlog of images.

Hoping to take some more macro images in the garden tomorrow. Heading into London on Sunday, the weather forecast is for heavy rain so I am thinking of reflection images in windows and puddles!
JC first grandchild, congratulations, such a special time :)

Congratulations, JC!
Grandkids are special.
Babies are fun to photograph. Older than that, you have to go into action mode.

Like an e-cigarette---I shoot myself with a toy retractable needle that has the word "cocaine" printed on it. No pain....no gain.

Welcome to the club, JC and congratulations!
I'm heading to the local wetland trail. I've been there about fifty thousand times, so I'm going to put on the macro lens and see if I can find something tiny there that's at least a little interesting because there's only a few thousand times you can shoot the tree covered trails.....

Nothing! The forest fire smoke is so thick its unhealthy to go outside. Took some nice smoke pics in the direction of usually great mountain view.

As soon as he learns to swim. JC! :)
You are a young grandparent. It took me 60 years to become one.
If the sun is visible, I will be out photographing it over the harbor.

Hopefully a re-shoot of a barn I couldn't manage to get a couple of hours ago. It'll only take me about 5 minutes shooting from the truck while stopped in the road....if no traffic happens.

Maybe the mess in our garage? We're getting new engineered wood floors Monday and have to clean it out so we have a place to put the furniture for a few days :)

Grats JC! I will have to call u Pappy JC from now on! HAHA!
I often stop in the road or just off of the shoulder to shoot things :) With the camera, not the 12 gauge.
Mary I am all too familiar with the 1000 shots of the same thing. Swan Lake is my old faithful when it is too hot or I am just not in the mood for driving around.

I think when I get home I will shoot my guns with my camera. The other way around gets expensive.

Myself in the foot, because I'd had fishing plans but the forecast called for two days of rain so I cancelled..
So this morning this was proven true, and I got started on some catch up editing
Now of course the weather's absolutely beyond belief in sublime perfection, and what am I still doing?

Grandchildren are exciting but I do love when I find a new Abilene AND the clear blue sky suddenly puffs with texture.
