Post your Art only.....No Photographs. My apologies to the photographers. I was told to open a new thread for artwork only because we already have a photography thread. Please describe the inspiration or process behind your artwork. ~ Natalie Holland
Below are mine.
I love to paint sunflowers. I have about 42 giant sunflowers growing in my garden. Giant sunflowers grow up to 10' with seed heads about 20" in diameter. The inspiration for "Abstract Sunflower Bouquet" was my garden sunflowers.
"Night Goddess" was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's quote. In a night, or in a day, in a vision, or in none, is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem. Is but a dream within a dream. ~ Edgar Allan Poe

'Uplifting' (Watercolor Painting)
*This is my most recent watercolor painting which was created from my head. It has an ethereal and dreamy feel to it.
Here is an inspiring quote that I found to go along with this Artwork:
'Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results' - Unknown

A photo taken by my cousin was the inspiration for this hummingbird painting - I loved the colours and composition as soon as I saw it.
The only time I have ever seen hummingbirds myself was whilst on holiday to Jamaica and Canada. Here in the UK we occasionally see hummingbird hawk moths - similar body, different wings. None-the-less, both species are stunning.

This rooster painting is from my memory. Growing up I remember spending many summer days on my grandparents farm in Maine. They had roosters, chickens, cows, horses and much more. I have always been intrigued by the rooster's vibrant natural iridescent feathers. I love roosters, they're such beautiful birds.

Natalie, this is a whole new technique for me! I am so obsessed with detail in my work so letting go with loose color washes was great! After letting the colors bleed and tilting the paper many ways, I then had to visualize what the subject would become. This is a little lost calf that is being located (I hope) by the rancher on horseback.

Per my description, this is a symbolic Floral abstract, using perspective, boxes and curves. No matter how hard we try to put our lives into some sort of order, i.e. little boxes, along comes one of life's curved balls... While it may break the symmetry of our life as we know it, a curved ball also has the ability to change our perspective, and that's not always a bad thing.
I used a picture of some ivy from my garden as the photographic base to create this floral abstract. Ivy is a resilient plant - a characteristic necessary when faced with one of life's curved balls!

You know...the biggest problem I have with these long "latest work" threads is that I can never remember what I have posted in them, especially if there is a Big Skip. lol
Hopefully my trike is a new one here. Originally a graphite drawing on paper, I worked it digitally to add color. I love turquoise and red together and I think this combo used here makes this image a lot fresher and more fun. I can easily envision this in a kid's room or playroom, with a thin red metal frame to echo the line work.

Original watercolor. I very loosely based this painting off of a photograph I took while walking along a beach in Abel Tasman National Park, on the South Island of New Zealand. Many multi-colored shells of various shapes and sizes rested on the beach, and in this piece I added bright orange, green, blue, purple, and brown tones to the sand, to create a more abstract, other-worldly, atmospheric effect.

It's pretty easy to see what has inspired me to paint these four paintings. The first three are oil paintings of the rugged northern coast of Maui. This area is very rocky with very little vegetation. The fourth one is an acrylic painting of Fleming Beach, which is close to where I live.

I completed a series of dog and cat pieces (all in a dogs & cats gallery). This one, a chalkboard with quote "yes, I really need all these dogs" sold in just a week. It was inspired by a crazy cat lady who had to explain that she really needed all those cats, thus there is also a car version. My last two sales have been chalkboard pieces, so I guess I should focus on doing a few more. Ah, if I only had the time to do all the pieces that bounce around my head or are jotted down in my sketchbook.
