When you enter my house you will be enveloped in a golden flickering light shinning through our reproduction of Serrano's "Piss Christ" What kind of art do you have in your home?

none - nothing .. I like my walls to be totally blank
it is so refreshing to see blank walls,
after too much working with visual arts

Lots of my art - something in most rooms. I have several bits and pieces by four other FAA artists too. I also have some beautiful Asian tapestries, some limited edition prints of snow leopards and a few watercolours by a Sussex based artist I used to collect.

My walls are filled with my own paintings since my home is my gallery. 13 to be exact, with rotations in and out.

In my studio I have only my paintings hanging. In the rest of the house I have originals by Sandi Olsen, Micheal Chesley Johnson, Linda Blondheim, and Barbara Jaenicke. I have a print by Shanna Kunz and a print by Charles White. All of them are landscapes. I also have some prints of automotive art hanging in the basement at my work bench for my other hobby.

A mix of mine and my husband's works and one HUGE digital drawing that he did on the computer of the "five columns" of architecture which is hung in a 24 karat gold leaf frame.

Walls are filled with my own art, since I have nowhere else to store the stuff that's there.
Otherwise, the idea of blank walls seems refreshingly logical.
... blank walls with good windows that let you see outside, ... to know when it is a pretty day, so that you can go out into the day and watch the art that is the setting around you. Walk into the art, be a part of it. Life, in other words.

My art, my Mother in Laws art (she is amazing!), my daughter's art (also great!) and art I've collected from artists from all over the World. In the market for new art soon! Will be shopping on FAA (and not just for my own). Gotta a beach house to fill!

Thanks to a loving husband.....I paint murals on the walls in the house in winter when the weather is too bad to shoot outdoors.....and they change every winter :)

Mainly original oils, acrylics and watercolors. Some by unknown artists, some by local artists whose work I love. Some are antiques, some contemporary. Really eclectic mix or styles and colors. Also have Northwest native wood carvings and one long, carved panel by a Scandinavian artist. There are also a few photographs, none of them mine. I don't have one single photo of mine hanging anywhere but I have a huge stash of frames and mats waiting for the day when I finally do. I'm getting ready to paint what used to be my office. I may take that opportunity to hang a few of my prints since all the walls will be stripped of old art.

My paintings, but since we put our house on the market, I've had to take many down to minimize distraction from the house itself for potential house hunters.

Edward, truth is I have a lot of 1920's - 1940's landscape painting mostly by California artist. I also have a few abstracts by Bay Area artist in the 1960's. Alas no Serrano's!

A mixture of both my own art, most purchased through FAA, and pictures of my children..... Also numerous pictures (printed locally) that my children have taken. They are a big part of what inspires me

Various photos, mostly mine, but I have others too. Some rooms have themes. For my Master Bathroom, I have a photo from each beach I've been too. I also have a few paintings and other art from other artists in the living room. My Hallways and shelves are full of family portraits. My largest photo (except for a large painting by someone else) and most popular to guests is this one I took In Alaska, which I have a large print of over my fireplace.

There is a real mix in our home but the living room has original stone lithos by Matisse, Klee, Kandinsky, Picasso, Miro, and Rouseau. Livin large.
I have a gallery off of my studio which is all my work.

My original 36 x 48 acrylic painting, 'Dancing for Joy', greets you when entering our lovely abode. Hangs above the fireplace. The next piece of art you see is my large matted/framed pastel, 'Noteworthy'. The in-home 'exhibit' continues throughout the house, along with some of my photography, family photos and, of course, an occasional ornately-framed mirror. High ceilings, lots of wall space & organized groupings keeps the look & feel clutter-free. I'm a neat freak. If my work is not hanging on our walls, or at a gallery, it is kept under wraps & stored in a safe place.

Ronald - be careful you don't want to get an angry mob going. The originals were attacked and destroyed on numerous occasions.
I have a great Pablo Picasso drawing from Ikea, a Tom D. folk art piece, a John Phahl, a S. Huneck, a S. Anget and a Robert Adams mixed in with my own stuff. Also a great acrylic by Caffrey Fielding.

Kevin, I enjoyed watching the virtual tour of your artwork and home. Hanging your artwork on lattice is a great idea!

In my house it's mosquitos.
I tried covering up my head with the sheets last night in the cold but kept hearing the buzzing. I turned on the light and saw three large fat mosquitos on the wall above my head. I swatted them with my hand...two got away but the one I got was full of blood.
Oh well, I live on the banks of a river.

Mosquitos. Hate the little buggers. I like bats, they eat a lot of mosquitos. Wish they'd eat more of them.
I have a teenager hanging out in my house right now. I keep hearing his computer buzzing. At least he doesn't hang out on the wall above my head.

Hiya Kevin,
No I can still count but lately I have been changing some of the paintings. In some cases I will take a large painting down and replace it with 2 smaller ones. So it seems that every time I take a count I either miss one or two and my count is different. 😳

Hiya Kevin,
No I can still count but I have so many that I loose count some times. I guess you can call it a senior citizen brain fart.😀

I have just one picture hanging on my walls. It's a print my late sister bought for me that features a celestial theme (one of my fave motifs) and a quote by G.K. Chesterton.

I have quite a bit. I have several of my own paintings and photographs. I also have two large poster prints of the artwork of Charley Harper - who I love. I have a tapestry I bought in Greece, some artistic plates/pottery I purchased in Turkey, Spain, and by a craftsman/artist in Minnesota, a few random paintings/art pieces, a large wood-inlay art piece, and a wood-carving art piece/sculpture thing from an artist in New Mexico. I love decorating my place. :)

Kevin and Roger, thank you. You two might enjoy this story.
Twenty three years ago, I had a baby and I wanted to raise him to be creative. I didn't care much about whether he was good or bad and I laughed a lot when he was bad and he was more often good.
To make a long story short, at that time while he was growing from toddlerhood to age five, I painted every room, some ceilings, every closet and some cupboards. I told my baby many stories and I don't think a single one of them was true. I painted footsteps in a cabinet and told him a very scary troll lived there brewing poisons that would kill humans. That was a cabinet that he could get into and believe me he never went in there! During his upbringing, we painted a lot, we played not with toys, but with stories. I told many lies and I taught him this was a skill, but God as my witness, this kid never learned to lie...at least not like his mum.
I grew an acre garden of everything from flowers and spices to allowing the native plants to thrive and my husband put up tall bird houses that he hand painted. We also had a Koi pond. Our neighbors hated us. My friends who were retaliators told me that my house would never sell and I'm sure they were right. But the house sold.
One day, a woman knocked on my door and she said that from the highway she could see my garden and it took her several months to locate where my house was. She wanted to see the garden so bad and so I took her through all of it. She was amazed and bought my house right then and there. She offered cash...she was a dentist's wife.
It's not all positive though. I wish I hadn't sold that house! When I built the home I live in now, my parents begged me to not do the tacky crazy sh%^ I did to the last house and some of my friends felt the same way, so I turned into that "middle of the road" artist creating décor, which, by the way, is not what I would've wanted to do with my efforts.

Lisa, excellent story. Be true to yourself. When we moved to Ohio years ago our boys were small. When they built the house the workmen left a pencil sharpener mounted to the wall in a back room of the basement. Our Nanny told the boys The Pencil Jabber lived in that dark room. My boys are grown but we still laugh at the Pencil Jabber.

We have in our home the art and photography of our children. We want to build confidence in them about life and how they see the world, especially the comments from visitors. We rotate the artwork regularly as they create new stuff.

Lisa,
I have found the shortcut to other people being happy is to have the conflict upfront.
When the doctor pulls out the needle to give you a flu shot, you have months of relief from what potentially
would have been.
When a child wants to touch the stove, you let him or her know in no uncertain terms not to, and they never have to have that pain.
When you drive far too fast, and your family comments, they save your life and their grief.
Conflict makes for better times.
Brought to you from the King Flour Biscuit Hour on NPR, we bring conflict to life. LOL

Thank you, Dave.
I'll consider your ideas.
I really enjoy all the trouble you get into, Dave. It would be epic working around a character like you. Please don't stop being you.

Many of my photos in every room. A few of my husband's photos in a couple of the rooms. Two digital frames in the living room. A huge wolf painting of an artist I don't recall the name, the painting is on black marble background. It was a xmas gift to my husband, in the living room. Another wolf painting on marble background in our computer room. My husband's military medals in shadow boxes.
As you can tell, we do not like blank walls.
