Northwest Florida Panhandle Group

I just created a new group on FAA called "Northwest Florida Panhandle". After doing some research, I noted that there were between 350 and 400 FAA members that lived in the area from Pensacola, FL to Panama City, FL and thought a group specific to our area would be beneficial. One, to share the art and talent of these many members but also to open opportunities for discussions and sharing within the members. Please join us and share your artwork, photos or drawings of things from the Northwest Florida Panhandle. I live in Navarre, FL and I mostly photograph things that I find in and around the area. However, there are many areas within the area that aren't associated with the beach and I look forward to seeing images and learning about other areas of the Panhandle. Anyone can join the group, even if you don't live in the Panhandle - I just require any images submitted to be of this area and annotated as such in the title or description.

You must be a member of the group to submit images and I have limited the number of images to just one a day. For those of you that manage other groups, you'll know that reviewing multiple images every day can be very time consuming and more a job than a fun experience. I welcome your comments and discussions.

Administrator of the Northwest Florida Panhandle group.
(I also administer the "Seen But Not Noticed" group)

The group is growing very "slowly" - up to 5 members (including myself). With 400 FAA members out there that live in the Florida Panhandle, I would think there would be more activity and interest. I know these things take time to generate growth so I'll try to be patient and wait. I welcome new members to the group and it will be a good place for your images to get featured and increase your visibility. You do not have to live in the Florida Panhandle to become a member, I just ask that the images you submit to the group be of the area.

I'm working on a contest that I hope will attract additional interest in joining the group.

Thanks,

The thing is most artists from the area on here rarely participate in FAA stuff. Aside from yourself, I have seen two or three other locals in the forum.

Thanks for the recent feedback on the discussion. I sometimes forget that I'm retired and have lots of time to be on-line with FAA. Back in the day of working the daily grind, there wasn't much time for the little fun things like this. I'm new to the area (moved here last Sept) although I've visited my daughter in the area for many years. As a result, I'm constantly seeking out new places to see/photograph and to learn more about the history of this beautiful area.

It is a neat area photographically speaking.

I grew up here but was out of the area for 30 some years though still came back often. There is a lot to shoot around here within an afternoon trip range and even more in easy overnight range.
