Question On Transparent Images

I know it's recommended to use images with a transparent surround on tee shirts, does this transparency also work with other products (phone cases, pillows ect)

as far as i know they should work just fine on the other things. i think the site always had png as an option.

It makes perfect sense and it should work on acrylic so your wall color would show through.

Ok,Thanks. It makes it worthwhile spending time on creating png images if it works on more than one product

Robert, it doesn't work that way with acrylics. They are treated as prints with a solid color background.

Here is a png with transparent background. Check the acrylic selection:

Hmm, I'm a bit lost now, April, I've tried your image on various products and can see on some items the brown color above is transparent. But how do you make the transparency show brown on prints, could you change that default color if you wished

Edit: I was working on the idea of uploading 2 versions of each image, one with a solid background and the other with some degree of transparency

It's not for prints, it's for products.

Paul, when you upload the png to FAA, you will be asked to choose a solid background color to be used for prints. They make a jpg from your png for those, so you have no other color options beyond your original selection for prints. But you can just opt not to offer it as a print and only offer it on items with available color options, like t-shirts and throw pillows by leaving the price fields blank.

Paul, yes... you would have to create two images for prints--one with background and one without.

All the prints will print the background.

All the products will allow see-through backgrounds.

Check out my page if you like. I have both.

Edit: I haven't done it yet, but as I understand it, for prints you could upload with a BG and then upload to the separate items without. That would be a lot of trouble if you must do it with each item. I'll have to check that out.

Ok thanks both April and Chuck
I've never uploaded png images so I wasn't aware of choosing a solid background color, that explains it.
I'll keep to my original idea of uploading 2 variations and just select via the pricing which image is for prints and products

Chuck. When you upload a file with a transparent background once it then lets you choose it for all the products from postcards to T shirts.

Thanks, Roy:

What I meant is that I may want a textured background for the prints, but a transparent BG for the items.

Then you are given the ability to upload a second, xparent one.
