A Twitter Story Continued

I just got back from St. Simons Island and on that trip I visited with the people at their visitor center. I thought it was to just see my photo (see image - me with my photo printed 4'x6' on canvas)

While there I met with some of the people there... All were honored to meet me which felt weird... but the big thing is that they want this photo for the cover of next years visitor guide.

They said while they've had many many photos of the lighthouse this was the first they had seen like this... through the live oaks, which are prominent on the island, and with the flowers in bloom... they showed me a mock up of the cover... beyond the fee for the cover the exposure with 200k printings is huge... so to say I'm excited would be an understatement.

They want to partner with me to feature my photos in the visitor center on a regular basis. I can understand your excitement. That is truly a "bonus" for your marketing efforts. Congratulations!

thanks all... I posted this not to boast about success but to show that twitter can be used to market yourself... Like I said in my original post I started last year with 30ish followers... growing my following has been a job in and of itself... hopefully others who are new to twitter give it time and chug away at it... good luck all

You certainly got my attention, Chris! I've followed your first thread because it has such great advice. I used to have a Twitter acct under an online name but I never did get the hang of it and just closed it down last year. Now I plan to start a new one under my photo gallery name and give it another shot. There's a lot to be said for motivation, and I've got it! Wonderful story, well deserved. Congratulations and thank you so much for sharing.

I love this story and of course the wonderful *and well-deserved* result. Congratulations, Chris! After seeing the power of social media platforms such as Twitter, I just created an account to promote not only my own work, but that of my fellow artists and photographers as well. Thanks for the inspiration! I'll look for you on Twitter. =)
