Nice work and good luck.

Sean and FAA should make a deal with them like the other Framing Stores. They do lots of framing and it would be great to have a FAA kiosk there too!!! Abbie can you pass that on to Sean?

Have done so, Bill :)

Michaels has outrageous frame pricing! Their constant 50% off sale is a shell game. "Prime" frames arent on sale.
I priced a 16x10 frame job there once, and the total was $400.00! ( not kidding) and I didn't even pick a frame in the mist expensive category. The girl kep telling me that these non-sale frames are "pricey"

I went across the street to Hobby Lobby and got an even better frame for $95.00.

Michaels lost my business. I cant see how FAA could benefit from a joint adventure with them.

"Michaels has outrageous frame pricing! Their constant 50% off sale is a shell game."

Boy! Isn't that the truth!

Even at 50% off Michael's frames are way over over priced. Never seen anything like it. It is not my favorite store.

But that don't mean that one should not enter the art contest or Sean should not make a deal with them if he can. They do a lot of business and it does no cost us a dime. I would opt in for a Michael's deal in a heart beat.

Michael's sells art supplies for painters of all kinds and they sell art painting classes. They do nothing that I know of, except sell frames, that is orientated to photography. Paintings only make sense.

It's a social media contest.....if you are submitting, start gathering up your friends to vote!

Melany,

It's true, Michaels damages the whole custom framing business with their tactics. They have been fined millions of $ for some of their practices but continue anyway. Still making much money. The traditional competing small shops although offering more quality, more customer service, more selection, etc can not compete with Big Box advertising budgets. Michaels have their own moulding company as well I believe. Sad

If you want someone who knows what they should, find a framer with a CPF (Certified Picture Framer) rating or better MCPF (Master Certified Picture Framer) not some kid working a summer job.

Sean I'm sure is on top of selling to Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and anyone else.

Marlene true! Popularity rules!

Nope, Floyd --

Besides frames, I've bought many supplies at Michaels: papers/cardstocks, pens, pencils, markers. archival sleeves, matting and mounting tools and supplies, tapes and adhesives, portfolios (both the books and large and small valises), and countless other items. I even use several Liquitex products for printing and finishing digital work.

During their sales, Michael's is one of my primary local resources for digital and photography-related supplies.

'Paintings only' is their choice in this contest -- not a foregone conclusion based on their available inventory or customer base. That's fine -- totally their perogative.

Floyd Snyder

well, okay... I concede the generic supplies are there... but they do not sell cameras, lenses, teach photography or do much that is only aimed at the photographer like they do the painters. But we are splitting hairs here.

'not a foregone conclusion based on their available inventory or customer base."

If you look at who's co-sponsoring the competition, I think it is.

I love Michael's. Looking forward to the next time I can clean out the clearance bin! Bought 10 frames for less than 100 bucks.

I buy the majority of my art supplies at Michael's. They have incredible sales on their canvas and they are good quality. Also, I entered the contest.

Floyd Snyder

Agree 100% David Randall.

Michael's' never gave me any trouble while I was in the business because we did not have one in our area until after I had sold out.

Now there is three of them within 40 miles and there are only a couple of the smaller shops that have survived in that same area.
