We "all" Love Our Own Work

Yup! If we didn't all love our own work, we would'nt be posting it here for sale... right? We love our own art. That is a wonderful thing! Don't let anyone take you down. As individual as we are as people, our artwork is also as such. I truly believe there is "NO WRONG OR RIGHT"... we express ourselves.. we believe in ourselves. Like just about anything in life, there will be some who don't like us and others that do, i.e., whether it be our flare for fashion... our hair styles or our home decor... or just in general.... SO, I say BRING IT ON!!! Be yourself.. The ONLY eye for art sales is in the eye of the beholder that it attracts... we are artists with our own identities and vision. Celebrate in it!

I'm still wondering if I'm creating any art at all; but when I was young, I was programmed to be extra self critical.

Your work, Diana is so powerful and beautiful. You are a pro in every way!

Yes! Too many people get discouraged. I just listened to those who know more than I do, and that helped me improve greatly, but I still like a lot of things I've posted that nobody looks at. The ones I thought were "Meah" get a lot of comments and likes. I've stopped trying to figure it out, but if I like it, I'm going to post it. I gotta' be me.

I am kidnapped by alien monsters who eat all my furniture up.

Yeah, there have always been couchpotato critics who can't rise to the level of artists, who think a loud mouth noise is worth something because they said it - perhaps they consider it to be their art, perhaps they're just not right in the head, I've met some who's internal ability to compare everything with everything else is astounding. I've met people who simply don't like artists full stop, and even one who thought I was a witch doctor.

I sometimes make the mistake of deciding my own preference of certain pieces, and the reasons can be as arbitrary as how long/difficult it was to make, to whether I was having a good time at the time. I sometimes see an old work and am reminded of a movie or a song that was on in the background while it was being created.

But yeah, I've taken a few down that I couldn't ever be totally happy with.

Lisa you are creating beautiful art! I have seen it.

Diana, I can certainly agree with your statement! I do love my work, I first create it for myself and then for others.

Yep, no shortage of armchair haters. They will find a way to put you down to make themselves feel better about whatever they do. At least I get some sales. A lot of people have great work and no sales. That can be depressing. Be your own biggest fan. My best work has always been done without regard to the critics or the standards or the prospect of a sale as determined by others. If it pleases me maybe someone else will like it. So far that has proven true enough of the time.

You posted this at such the perfect time. I'm speaking for myself here, but I'm sure many feel like this.

You can get all the praise in the world on a piece that you post, let's say via your FB fan page. All your fans come on and say how much they love the piece, etc. Then one person, and it only takes one, comes on and says that they don't like how you did something. In my case, that they feel my HDR is too heavy handed and it make my images look posterish. Well , that's it...that one comment is all it takes for the questions to start popping up, and to start second guessing the work.

Thank you DIana for your such a positive post :)

This is a painting by Picasso of a boy with a horse on the beach. The boy's gait, his stance is awkward. He is just
barely balancing, he is precariously balanced.

Picasso embraces humanity...again....his brushstrokes were not perfect. He was loose. He painted generally very fast.
He managed great control, but at speed.

The point is being human was what made his art. Yes it would be easy to criticize his work. It always has been. He
studied his audience for that. It did not get him down. Not that I know of anyway. He understood his audiences. He mapped them
that much I do know. He dismissed what he wanted to dismiss. And we are lucky he did so.

I make a point of what I want to dismiss that is aimed at me and what I want to address. Either way it can be a dent in the armor, but
it is not time for the Prozac. It is not criminal to criticize a work of art. I wish the critics maintained their balance though. Because
people in glass houses need to paint their own walls as well.

Diana - "Yup! If we didn't all love our own work, we would'nt be posting it here for sale... right? We love our own art".

No, not all of it. But I like most of mine, and love some. And I love the process of creating, whatever the result.

We cannot produce a masterpiece all the time. There will be some dogs along the way, so we can better appreciate our good work. And we learn from these "mistakes".

There have been several pieces that I didn't really like when finished - They were not my original thought, they were not composed properly, they were too "amature", the colours were wrong or for some other percieved reason.

However they have sold, so who am I to judge. My ideas of aesthetics are obviously not those of some others.

I'm not sure everyone loves their work when they are first starting out. But hopefully they do when the reach the conclusion that its worthy of offering it for sale.

Just don't feel discouraged.... there are many "opinions" out there which are not cut in stone by the "God of Art/Photography".... I listen and learn from others, but I filter out the opinions that I don't necessarily agree with. I change and grow from the opinions I do agree with, but most importantly I listen to my own gut feelings.
