Interior Design Photography Advice

Morning/Evening all,

Needing some advice regarding a move into freelance interior design photography to supplement my income.

I've been toying with the idea of expanding/diversifying my photography income to be less dependent on art sales and to include more service based income streams. I am particularly interested in photographing hotel interiors. This market and real estate markets seemed to be large and hot enough.

If any one has any experience or advice they would wish to share I'd be very thankful. I am interested in technical advice but I'd also like to hear about business model and approach advice as well.

Very wide angle lens. Perhaps a tilt shift.

Pick up a copy of Architectural Digest and study how the images are done. Look for natural vs. artificial light.

Efficiency is the name of the game. The markets are there, but they are competitive and price is a big selling point, if you aren't efficient you will find yourself working for minimum wage really really quickly. Automate as much of your workflow as you can, learn to shoot quickly and efficiently, stack shoots one after another, and you can make it pay ok.

Only way to make it pay what I would want to make a real living out of it without running yourself in the ground would be to employ others IMO.
