Your Personal Online Galleries

I would LOVE to see members' online galleries that you have created to lead into your FAA galleries if you'd like to share them. I'm getting ready to make one as a front end for some of my FAA galleries. I have a website I haven't been using and I'm just going to design a nice entry page with a slideshow and maybe a few more features. I may link it to my blog. Not sure right now, since, although I advertise my art there, it's mostly about living in Australia and cooking.

My page is about Key West and I do have quite a bit of Key West art that I would like to be seen more. So what are you doing? I realize they may be WordPress or Blogger or who knows. Mine will be designed in html, since that's who I am, but I'd love to see what you are doing. I'll share mine when I have it up.

Here's my Fine Art American Key West Gallery, which I want to link to from my new site: http://susan-vineyard.artistwebsites.com/art/all/all/all/key+west+and+the+rest.

Well, I guess I can't link directly to one gallery, huh? So I'm really curious now. If I paste in the address above I do get my one gallery, but from this discussion, I get all of my work. I'll have to see how it works in html and if I can or cannot link to one gallery. I'm also anxious to play around with the slide show parameters. Has anyone been able to do anything interesting with them?

Very nice, Cynthia. Yes, that's the kind of thing I want to see...what kind of creative marketing members are doing. Your site is great!

I try to keep the number of CLICKS to the shopping cart at a minimum. Just about every image on my photo site clicks to my Artist Website.

Wayne, that's really nice. Love the black and grey. Is that done in some kind of blog format? I'm sure it works great on mobile! Beautiful!

Bill, I like yours too and your picture with your camera. I'm going to do that, I think...and the fact that you also feature products. I'm trying to figure out how to make mine look like a gallery but also feature products. I might create an interior design page....and I also use my artwork on clothing at another site and may figure out how to also feature that and calendars.....I do sell quite a few calendars from another site....I have a lot to think about. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Susan. It's a 'Blogger' blog and I played about with the colours and the HTML to get the feel I was after.
I like your Australian gallery but then I'm prejudiced ;)

Wayne, thought it looked familiar. I use blogger for my blog....about cooking and Australia.... And I may create a separate--or sister--Australian gallery. I already own my Key West one, so I'll start there.

Mystic, you've really done some different things with your FAA page. Very interesting.

Love all these great ideas! So much creativity out here, but that's to be expected, isn't it?

I use my own website with the shopping cart widget #1, because FAA is not the only platform I sell my pictures (e.g. editorial stock, and calendars). From my gallery pages, I link to the respective FAA gallery (embeded in my website, too).

Nice, Jane. Is that the FAA slideshow on yours? Have you tried messing with the parameters? I'm at work (don't tell my boss), but can't wait to get home tonight and see if I can make it do what's in my head for it to do....

Colin. I am impressed. Your site is an inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

This is mine, I keep changing how I set up the prints page, very soon it might be changing back to just the FAA cart.
Also on the to-do list is working out how to put a link to buy on artist websites when you enlarge a gallery picture.
I made this from scratch myself so changes like that can take me a while!

Very nice, Chris. So clean and pretty. And you have a coo.....ah.....I want to go to Scotland so badly....

Thanks, Susan! No, it's not the FAA slideshow. I googled 'free slideshow code', found one that would suit and edited it to do what I wanted it to. I toyed with the idea of using the shopping widget, but I found a lot of problems with it so at the moment I'm linking straight to my AW site to display my portfolio and linking individual images to the relevant shopping page.

The site is still a work in progress, but I haven't had time recently to do any more work on it.

What a great thread! I really enjoy seeing how other people set up and handle their online presence, and intend to go back through all of these when I have more time (meaning -- when it's not 3 a.m.!)

My website is about to undergo extreme changes, making it less FAA-centric, and more inclusive of my other online sites, but here it is as it now stands -

http://www.art166.net

I use Google for blogging (Blogger), but I'm just about to get back to it, after neglecting it for a year. The blog continues to bring in traffic, even when I'm not actively posting; I'm sure that's a result of having been around for so long (since 2005). I have a post scheduled for tonight, but it might show up tomorrow, instead -

http://www.art166.info

I'm still in the process of setting up our website, so it's far from finished. However, here the link to show how our AW gallery is integrated so far: http://wisejam.com/faa-gallery/

The gallery is embedded via an iframe code so that people don't have to leave the website.

What took me days to work out was how to call an internal link (e.g. when I'm writing something on the blog and want to link to an image) to open in the iframe, to keep visitors on our website, and not sending them away. Here an example which opens on our website and is an internal page from the FAA gallery: Magnificence

I posted the coding solution here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31568104/linking-from-page-a-to-a-specific-iframe-on-page-b/31654338 as it seemed that nobody in the world wide web knew how to do this.

My gallery is http://Ginkelmier.com Still early in and I would love to customize more, but have to figure out both the how to and what i exactly want to do with it. Nice seeing how others have personalized their websites with their stores incorporated.

This is a interesting discussion. Very nice websites some of you have and I haven't checked all of them yet. My question is, how do you go about setting up your own website? Their must be a monthly fee of your website, I am not talking about FAA website.

@Randy,

(A) Domain name registration - costs approx. $10 per annum
(B) Hosting (shared hosting is normally more than enough) - starts $2.95 per month, depending on the provider

That's it... of course, a lot of work and time too! ...and a very steep learning curve is also guaranteed ;)

Randy, my site is through Weebly.com; I'm currently using their Starter plan. Here's a comparison of their plans --

http://www.webnots.com/comparison-of-weebly-plans/

My website URL - www.art166.net - I already had through GoDaddy.com. I've directed it to various sites in the past, but now use it as my standalone website address.

Frank, your Flickr looks great!

Thank you, Wendy, likewise on your Weebly ... really nice!!

... I've dropped WordPress as Flickr seems to be a better strategy for my photography.

Interesting about your decision with WordPress/Flickr. I've been considering something similar between two of my sites. Still in the 'early consideration stage' though, so will save it for a different discussion.

Hi Susan,

Thanks Susan, not sure why it didn't turn into a link before, I'm blaming posting from my phone!

I like more minimal sites for art to let the images take pride of place, but mine is mostly simple because I don;t have the ability to make anything complicated and didn't want to use any of the template sites I found.

Wow. Gotta look at all of these this weekend, which is near in Australia (Thursday here). I had some Adobe problems, so I don't have mine up yet, but plan to this weekend.

Has anyone seen anything like this? I'm thinking of a link to a "decorator" page on my site where I will play with some room pictures into which I'll insert my art, and maybe other items such as duvets and shower curtains....pillows.... Imagekind does that just a bit. Has anyone ever seen anything like that? It would take some time, but be kind of fun....and hopefully effective...

Susan, showing my art like that on my website has been on my Things To Do list for a long time. I've shopped around for suitable 'room' images, and know they're available for lease, on most stock photo sites.

I've seen artists using room settings here in their FAA galleries. Unfortunately, I can't think of even one of those artist's name, but I know I've seen them! :-)

I'm very new to this artist world. I've been trying to create a new blog for my art, though I've tried to remain very simple and organized. It stills needs lots of work, but a few have come to view it and every visit I get is very special to me. My blog is nqnossart.wordpress.com, just in case you're interested, though like I said, it's simple.

very impressed with the quality of websites that i have just seen
i have an artists website under FAA/pixels which does not work under firefox
at present i am using wordpress www.fineartbyandrewdavid.co.uk which i host directly under my own virtual host platform

I publish a blog,
http://www.myblog.tonysphotos.eu/
with a link to my AW gallery
http://tony-murtagh.artistwebsites.com/index.html?tab=galleries
which in turn links back to the blog.

From my home page, the "Gallery" tab opens up the shopping widget. Less clicks and confusion then going to the AW
