Phishing For Your Info

Very informative article. If you come across this site and happen to see your work, do not click on or use their take down request form-it's a phishing scam! They're not selling anything, least of all anyone's work. But they can infect your PC.

so best to open those at work or in the library.... :)

i try not to bother with any of them, because even legit thieves (the legal type), want too much info and that's a lot of hassle. the last one i did was on google to have them removed.

I think in all instances it is probably best to go thru Google or the host, never use a site's own take down request form. EVER.

if you think about it, it makes sense, that it shouldn't be there. since its a scraper site, it would have no need to tell you the stuff is stolen, they already know it is. i do wonder if there is a law in place that if people use the DMCA like that, its against some rule...

but then again in think they are based in russia and are outside our silly rules.

This got relegated to second page status, so don't come crying to me if you find your stuff on a fake site, use their take down and then start a thread about how it destroyed your computer. LOL

Indifference is the best revenge sometimes, at least in this case. However, I have signed the petition…you never know, they may work sometimes :)

Sometimes those petitions work but in that case, the guy that started it is misinformed. He believes they are selling "stolen" images when in fact, every image link is nonworking and there is no way to order any of them. What is working is their take down form and that is where the trouble starts.
Not to mention the fact that if he started a petition for every site that was selling "stolen" images, that would be his full time job.

I don't see how a petition could possibly do anything to stop them. Its just more promotion for him. Whoever started the petition is doing more harm then good. This is not about selling your images. Its about using your own google search to lure you into something.

The male Cardinal will attack almost anything red. But given a mirror it will attack it repeatedly and endlessly. Because he does not realize that he is only looking at his own reflection. That's is pretty much what is happening here, you are just looking at the results of your own Google search for you own image.

Besides that why would someone pay for a download of something that is free to grab anyway. Almost any image on the internet can be captured and used as a screen saver. You would think anyone who uploads to the internet would be well aware of the

Might I suggest that the mods remove the link in the other thread? Often people don't read the entire thread, and clicking the link in the OP could bring bad results to someone here.

Melany: the link Edmund put up is not to the site itself. Although had he searched discussions, he wouldn't have had to post at all. *shrug*

Thanks for trying Louise, but you're looking at the wrong post. The link IS posted here and (IMO) it needs to be removed.
