Out Of My League?

I'm feeling like I'm out of my league here. So many fantastic works of art on this site. I'm not trying to get anyone's pity, but am I just underestiimating myself here? And could someone really want to buy my art?

Thank you for any advice

If you do not have confidence in or like your own work, it will be hard. We all have our own style and there will be someone out there who loves your work. I promise.

Welcome KC, we all started from the beginning and you already have more feathers in you cap.

Out of your league? Not at all. Don't sell yourself short, this is an exquisite piece...

Keep up the good work - someone is bound to like what you do. It just takes time and effort to get people to "find" your work.

instead of letting it intimidate you let it inspire you. Every one has a following. We just got to find it.

you certainly like feathers... it really depends who you market to. my buyers aren't yours and so on... i would market to bird watchers, ornithologists, homeopaths, indians, shamens etc. you do want more keywords than that.

if your using art to escape that's good. if your doing it for money, it could be depressing. however you can't compare yourself to everyone since we make different things.

i would however expand to different kinds of feathers since you have the theme going already. peacock, parrot, etc. then give us an idea what bird they came from.

We have all felt that way on many day.
And could you imagine how many never pick up a brush at all - because somebody else could always be better ?

Thank you all for you kind words and advice. It has been very hard for me to have confidence. I'm in a daily battle with Anxiety, Depression and PTSD.
I'm in a dark place right now and I'm feeling unsettled about my life.

Thank you again

Does art make you feel better? Than do it and do it often. Do whatever it takes to stay healthy.
Don't worry about selling or anything that may cause you to feel down about yourself when you feel unsettled like this.
Art is a hard business. So don't focus on selling right now. Do more art. Keep making art. Create, create, create. Art can be healing.
Keep your chin up and don't isolate yourself. Surround yourself with good people that encourage you and build you up and talk to them or join a group you can talk to. Really important you don't isolate yourself during this time.
You can get through this time. Use your art to help you get through this and refuse to let depression win.

I once asked a nationally ranked handball player to play one game with me, when I was just beginning the sport. He rolled his eyes in a condescending way, but he did it, and he did it seriously.

I could tell that his intent was to prove that he was so good that I would not score a single point against him.

I scored one point, and it nearly made him blow his stack. I won that game, in a way. (^_^)

Out of my league? Undeniably, positively YES. Wasted effort? Not at all. It was the spark that made me better years later. Sometimes, you learn best by loosing to masters.

Somewhere out there are some people who would want one of each of your feathers. It is up to you to figure out how to get them to see your work.

I'm out of my league in many ways, but primarily with marketing.

Mike offers great advice in regards to marketing and selling your work. Listen to it and learn from it.

My advice is to not worry about sales so much as being true to yourself.
Getting your art seen, recognized and sold is difficult and should not be the gauge by which you measure its value.

Find other works that grab you and start to ask why and how it can contribute to your own work.

Improve and create. Rinse and repeat.
You've got talent. Just keep moving forward.

Hi....... KCWarthog Art
Really i liked your work. There is no more colours, more subject, big theme. But like a single water drop, like a simple air breeze it is giving soft and interesting feel. Tushar

I really like this one! Are you getting any help for your PTSD? I hope so....an online friend of mine lost her Marine husband to PTSD suicide. Please hang in there. You are loved.

KC, your feathers are superb. I tried to do those once and failed, miserably. Well done!

Everyone has to decide if they need to sell for validation or if its enough to produce art for pleasure. Once you start posting on a art sales site, you are adding new pressure to your work.

You can either be depressed by other's work and sales or you can be inspired.

I absolutely love the simplicity of the feathers :-) No distractions :-)
