General / Gallery Set Up ,etc.

Every Artist/Craftsperson that reads this probably has more experience here (on and about FAA and selling on the Internet) than I do, (I have 40 years of My Art sales/experience, but this particular sales approach/medium is a completely different animal) and I thank each and everyone of you for that wealth of knowledge that I get/have gotten from you!

This is the (pointed ) question I have this time: Is there a way, do you know that you can place 'pictures' on/in a (separate )gallery that would not be for sale (NFS) and have no pricing (I'm not looking to sell them) but specifically for visual enhancement of 'Paintings' that are in another gallery ?
- you see this in many websites - (posters.com etc.) Say for instance, you pick out a poster you click on it and the website has an option there to show you what that poster looks like in a 'setting' - in the past (decades )for me this quite possibly was/is my greatest technique with My Metal Sculptures - specially with the 'Rich' - I would take a picture of their setting and in the computer superimpose either a piece from 'stock' or a proposed commission (mockup/model) and present to them - I'm telling you it's like money in the bank, an instant sale (for me).
- it's similar to what FAA is doing with the new app - 'see the picture you would like to buy for your 'setting' before you make a decision - a clever(innovative) concept and a technical upgrade from what I was doing. Why can't I, or anybody use this same technique by simply showing pictures that have been taken by My Private Patrons, Galleries, Interior Designers etc. - put it in this separate gallery just for a visual of what the proposed 'Painting' looks like in a setting. (I already have the necessary components available)

- as you or I know, a lot of people can't visualize, imagine or picture something in their own environment like we (The Artist ) can, right? - Well, I can't seem to figure out how to do this - any 'gallery' that I open and set up automatically has it geared for sales. - Of course the other thought would be to deliberately set up the gallery, so that people could buy the setting's 'Pictures etc.' or see the images that they're interested in in different settings.

This idea is just one of many functions (like using videos - to promote The Artist and their Art, etc. - Which from the latest research study indicates 'videos' are responsible for 60 to 70% of the decision/ buying today)) that would enhance the possibility for sales -but I don't see how in Artist FAA sites - these (successful concepts in the past) are just my logical thoughts

- what answers do you have (to my pointed question ) and what do you think of these viable/proven concepts (separate gallery for viewing only and Artists video promotions)?

I thank you in advance - (The other) Robert Palmer . . . over

just make a folder that says - metal sculptures - not for sale. and don't add a price to them. however be aware that a bulk edit will add prices to them. you'll have to remove the prices if you set them in the default.

videos are only a sales tool if there is a review to go with it. showing a video with just flat images are kind of boring.

viable? show the images. that's what they are buying

Hi Robert, just edit the photo you want to place in the NFS gallery and space out the pricing. Don't put 0.00 or it will still remain for sale but you won't get your markup.

Also, I do believe your potential buyers can use the Pixels app to create a virtual experience of your art on their wall. Mayhaps you should push that (play with it first, I haven't done that yet so can offer nothing more than a vague recollection of the feature). Which reminds me, egads I have a lot of stuff to do.

Thanks Sharon - for the valuable tips about not using $0.00 - logically that's what I would've done!

Thanks Mike!
Even if I wanted to add a video to my site/gallery, I see no way to do that - I tried uploading(typical procedure) and it gave me a message ' these are the formats that we accept . . . Is there another way of uploading those videos?

its not that type of site. if you want videos and such, a common webpage is what you want. but the main point of those is to sell the art your pushing. and if they are already here, they don't need the video. and if you link off the site they may stay off the site.

i don't think you have to say the other robert palmer, i think your the only one of that clan that writes in here.

Thanks, Susan (Maxwell Schmidt) -you have to love people with long/middle names - my initial (as you can see) is RSVP (honestly) - as I was told my mom and dad fought over which middle initial (name) to use and ended up using both!
I'll (also) have to check out that new app - BTW - that's an understatement about having things to do - I'm up to my neck in alligators learning about selling/representing myself (and My Art of course) on FAA and the Internet in general.

Mike, the impetus for using that (the other) wasn't because of the artist in Paris France - this bit of dry British humor came from the reference by people that would meet me and make the Association from 'The Singer' - and I don't think he's going to post anything - because it would only be posthumous

Awesome initials! Mine are (obviously) SMS, somehow I don't think I can make much fun out of being mistaken for a text message.

Edit: And now I have an "Addicted to Love" earworm. I hate you.

Robert S.V.Palmer,

You certainly can post and have separate galleries with work, "Not for sale", "Original sales only", "Originals and POD sales", or just "POD sales"

By the way, the 2 sculptured tables you posted are PHENOMENAL!! .
