guys if your not getting the views, advertise them. bots alone can make 30 hits right there. and if its been there for years, then totally - send them off to other people. they won't sell out of this thread.

Zero views on this one, but then it's not that long ago that I reposted it as I did some digital enhancing, this is a copper sculpture I made. I'm confidant when I take it out of the box and show it that it well sell, the image I'm not that sure of.

Interesting how some get stuck with less than 25 views when a simple Tweet will usually garner a minimum of 15 views.

I agree with what Mike said. A small amount of views has nothing to do with being forgotten and everything to do with a lack of promotion. Sometimes I sort my views so I can see those with few views. Invariable there is something lacking or a mistake. Maybe I put a period instead of a comma between the main keywords. Maybe there is no description. And certainly there was no promotion. Very often it has only a few keywords. I did a thread on the astronomical difference in views you will get if you have more than 5 or ten. All that said my least viewed image had less than 4 views after several years here. I only had 8 keywords. I usually have 25 or 30. I just added one. I also just promoted it. It now has 16 views. All of them likely bots. But bots views can lead to sales also. Its now on my Twitter feed. I could do one better and go back and put some hashtags. I could put it on FB. Its obviously not an image that i push. If it was forgotten it was by me. It certainly is not because nobody wanted to see it. They didn't even know about it.

Actually my print selling is very healthy. There is a whole market that likes artist printed and signed prints. I do self fulfillment and decided to transition to POD. I'm tired of spending my Sundays packing prints to ship, and would rather be chainsaw carving in front of my gallery.
Everyone does things for there own reasons. But I am participating in these discussions for the same reason everyone else does. Exposure.
I think it is interesting one of my better selling images doesn't garner views on this site. It might incline me to further look at other pod sites.

John if you go to another POD try putting an i in tail. Like I said a lack of views in almost invariably a sign that you are doing something wrong. I could think of a lot more keywords for this. You have to do at least some promotion to get the ball rolling. Also here is a little secret . It does not matter where you are posting. Always put the main keyword first and the more broader keywords less. It like a basic rule of search engines.

When I joined FAA five years ago there was a limit on the amount of keywords. I uploaded so many during that time that its difficult to go back to them all to add more keywords. When I need to reupload or edit one of them I will add more keywords. I wish there was a bulk editing for keywords and descriptions.Yes, I've added that to the suggestion list. I know it isn't ideal to have the same keywords across many images, but it would help!

Thanks for the advice Bradford.
I don't pay as much attention to twitter, keywords and views as maybe I should. The rules change daily.
I ask myself these questions.
Was it time well spent?
Did I enjoy that time?
Then finally at the end of the year.
Did the time spent, earn me a fair profit?

The older you get the more valuable is your time!

@ Jessica. It would be so worth it for you to give a push to some of your early work by adding appropriate keywords. One of your early images is sitting there for sale with no keywords and no descriptions.

Yes John that is very true. We have to prioritize our precious time. Between stock images and fine art I make a nice bit of extra money from my photography. I can copy the keywording to a number of sites, and between similar images so that helps. Also I had had been working on my keywords for 5 years before I started here. so there was very little extra work. I can tell you if I did not need the money bad or if my efforts did not pay off I would be out shooting or just enjoying the outdoors every day. Or at least every morning since my skin no longer tolerates bright sun
I just share what works for me and try and help others that want to sell because a rising tide floats all boats. I would rather see you sell here than go somewhere else and not sell.

John Harmon

Bradford, Thanks again for your advice.
I wouldn't leave FAA unless I was given a reason. Its the best $30 I ever spent for a site.
My course of action will be to re-keyword my low view images at the same time also uploading those same images to another pod site. Time permitting.
The rising tide theory has been touted much. But the boat has to be seaworthy otherwise they waste resources.

I hate the midday sun the only good use is for infra red imagery.
I spend my afternoons in the shade of a chestnut tree next to my gallery. My wifi reachs that far.

After looking through 3 pages of those with the lowest views, it was easy to understand why no one looked at them. Most are downright embarrassing and should get the boot. But I do like a couple, mostly for the memories. I am going to go back and delete some and rework others.

Hmm, I have several and many were loaded before I signed up with Twitter. Just tweeted this, it should have more love though, lol! The bots should take it past the 20 views here shortly but if a REAL person wanted to look at it.....!

Just tweeted this one...for some bot views at least. I sold a 16x20 print of this on another site within a couple of weeks of posting it. Search 'formulas' play a huge role in what gets seen. Different selling sites all have a different 'take' on search. Barely seen here.

I've only been her a short time but the only image I have with less then 25 views is one that I posted last night and that is probably because I haven't shared that on any social media yet other then a small local Facebook town for my town. If you want people to see it you gotta put it our there.

I have a series of Native American close-up images that I uploaded in 2013. All have very low views, well under 50 for most of them. They are actually some of my favorite images...maybe Native American is not a much-searched for subject. This one has 18.

Valerie you have only 7 keywords. You don't stand a chance. If I was looking for anything from Seminole Indians, I might want this. Its in the description but not the keywords. Put in some singulars as well as plurals. some specific words as well as general. And a location tag. This tribe is specific to Florida. This is a perfect example of how looking for the least viewed can uncover images that were not complete when uploaded.

This thread shows the mathematical change in the amount of searches you are in if you add more keywords. The difference in having a few more keywords can double, triple or even 10 fold the odds of a sale.

Every time I upload an image I also use the "Post to Twitter" feature. That usually attracts 20-25 bot visits within the next 10 minutes or so.

Here is an image I uploaded yesterday that has 36 views - with almost no promotion other than posting onto one of my Facebook pages.

I just changed my default setting to post to twitter the other day. Went through a few images that have been missed and tweeted them. I don't know if I think anyone clicks on a link without seeing an image to ge with it. I know I don't. Seems like it would be better if the system sent the image out to Twitter with the link.

Better to tweet with hashtags. You can copy the auto tweet and customize it. Some people even get alerts when new posts have certain hashtags. I had one go almost viral because of that. It got picked up and retweeted all over the world and now still gets daily retweets.

Melissa Bittinger

Thanks Bradford, tweeting is a new and not completely 'learned' skill set...why aren't hashtags already built into the code if that's better? Why bother having it post directly from uploading?

Valerie Reeves

Bradford...I may only have a few keywords, but they DO include Seminole Indian. Why do you say otherwise? Is it because the two words are not together? Here is the list of keywords:
red, pink, beads, seminole, native american, indian, layers, necklaces

I just added Florida....thanks for the tip.

Unclear on whether or not we really need to include both singulars and plurals. If I have Seminole Indian must I also have Seminole Indians?

This was one of the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen!

Bradford Martin

Sorry Valerie. I don't know how I missed that. That said I would do it as a phrase anyway because an exact match seems to rank higher than a combination. An exact mach on plurals does not seem to make a difference. I still do them if it is a main word.

Shelby, very nice!

Malory, if you can figure out what make of truck that is it will help. A location in the tags is warranted on this and might help sell. There is no description. As much as some may say otherwise, word matches lead to sales.

Mallory Harben

Thank you so much for the advice! I know a few car people that may be able to help with the type of truck. :)
