Pngs With Transparent Backgrounds

Here is a thread to share your images that have transparent backgrounds so the customers can choose the background color directly on the site for items other than prints. Show off what you have come up with to take advantage of this feature.

I modified a few files today, including those from my wine series

and my most viewed and most pinned item also got a revamp to the file so customers can choose the background color of shower curtains, totebags, phone cases, etc.

I have been creating quite a few since learning that PNG files allow a transparent background.

This is interesting. Does it mean that the FAA ordering system includes a function that allows the buyer to choose a bkg color?

Yes

I had no idea.

Now I'm wondering what other functions are available in the order engine that are not commonly known.

Here is a pink triceratops graphic that's available on various items. And also a cat motif. There seems to be a slight problem with some shower curtains not showing the PNG images correctly by making the transparent part look black. When you click and hold the slider the correct background color shows.

I learned something new...Thank you!

This is very exciting to see how everyone approaches this function differently.
I tried some where the content (like the type) was transparent and I supplied (for lack of a better term) the background so that the text changed colors with the color picker but the problem there is the image size is also scaleable so an outer boarder sometimes appeared. I was trying to simulate the function like some other PODers have that allows you to change the graphic. We are not there yet.

Dan, the image size is also adjustable on the products other than prints. I found it useful for making my pillows and shower curtains look better.

Alice, thanks for stopping in and I am glad you learned something.

One more sort of newer feature that maybe some of you missed...
You can set the default crop on the phone, tote, square pillow (have not figured that one out for the rectangle pillow yet), etc so the preview looks how you, the artist, thinks it should sit on the product (as far as the zoom/crop) is concerned. Maybe it is a small thing, but it made me really happy to see (thanks coders).

Can someone tell me what I did wrong - the background looks crappy around the oval. I took the prints option off because it looked so bad.

Nikolyn, there looks to be quite a lot of compression artifacts in the preview. I'm not sure what would cause that. Did you happen to re-size the image after you made the oval crop and added the border?

Mike said the same thing - compression artifacts. I did no resizing. I saved as a png and exported and uploaded that. So any compression would have been on the FAA end. I actually started another thread to ask about this since no one had responded. Thanks for coming in on this one, MM. Here's the link to the other thread - I'll work there since it is more specific to my problem.
