I don't understand the question.
Are you asking people if they need external inspiration or if they get it from within?

That feeling is like when you did something that you cant :)
Burn - is it you ? :D like new avatar

I dont feel too talented.
When it came to using a paint brush all of the artists
I use or build upon were extreme talents.
In design work I am talented, but too talented? No.
I still need and want to grow.
I heard something interesting about talent the other day on NPR.
Yoko Ono turned up in NYC coming from Tokyo a couple of years
before meeting John Lennon. She was playing with Jazz greats within
a matter of a couple of months of being in NYC. She was writing Atonal music. It turns
out the simple stuff the Beatles were doing was a relief to her. It was fun
and sounded great. John was more designer than great classical composer or instramentalist.
John was a great talent mind you.

That feeling is like when you did something that you cant :)
Saba,
The Acts of War piece I finished a couple of weeks ago was a summit for me.
It is a relief to make simpler art again. Might be a huge relief for any followers I have as well. lol
Most of what any artist makes is not the summit.

That is why I called John more of a designer.
Beethoven had it all, but he would have produced nothing worthwhile
without being a designer.

It is just a design. No meaning that runs any deeper.
As you said you liked this.
The image you posted has a broken link for some reason.

Digital,
Western language is made up of 26 letters or around that depending on the language.
A recent study on information content going by combinations of letters found a certain depth to 26 letters.
Then within that study they worked on calculating how much information was transmitted using Asian characters. Far
more depth of information. Far more.
This might seem to be sidestepping the conversation but it is not. Let me explain.
With your auditory you take in rough 2 MB/sec.
With your visual you take in around 50 MB/sec.
A lot of what you see runs silently. An unspoken language.
When you look at my Sphere 4 Renoir you see an unspoken language.
You want written answers on this thread. not all art communicates that way.
There is a lot of information in Sphere 4 Renoir.
If you do not know to read a Chinese character, that does not mean you can not see its beauty.

I just told desinges can be meaning something and if your desing is just desing ok :)
and yes it does mean dont trust your eyes before you dont meaning what if there is wrote smthng bad in chines and you dont understand ?

It matters when you know the meaning. In terms of a lot of art, ignorance is bliss and subjectivity is critical. Some things (like language) do have actual meaning, and once that meaning is known, it trumps the beauty of form. Example: Lovely tattoo not so lovely after all.

What you think and how far this thread will get are interesting.
But critiquing my art is not going to happen on this thread. You are out of line.
If you do not want to start trouble change your style. You have a habit of starting trouble.

Many different entities are selling prints from the old masters on FAA. Being creative with those images is good to go as well.
I hope you dont have bad psychiatric problems.

Whenever I feel too talented, I get a little nihilistic! Like, what's the point of art, creation, life? Oh,God, I wanna live like common people! :-))

Does muse exist?
It is in the dictionary so yes, is the flippant answer.
However it depends on the definition used. Or put in a different form :-
What a muse meant.
Andy - the words in dictionary may does not exist :) there may be exist something and not to be in dictionary :P
Ana - i dont have the filling to live like a common is it bad or not ?
A Muse is a mythological (Greek) being. So by definition she does not exist.
Ana - if u dont have the filling to live like a common it is not bad or not. That depends if you are happy to be different.

:-)) Maybe all people are less ordinary, in their own little universes. Many artists were overwhelmed by their talent, so it may be a curse also! Just go with the flow! You'll either go mad, burn your paintings, cut an ear, or eventually die! Muhahahaha

My muse told me to collect half a dozen award-winning screenplays, cut out the best scenes from each one and then paste them together to form my own original screenplay and I would make millions of dollars.
That sounds really easy. Does anyone think it would work?
I'm off to go take my meds now.
Chuck,
Anyway you could make a screenplay based on a plot no one had ever used before?
No
Dave

Anybody who feels "too talented" is too far gone to help.
The muse, then, would only exist in how a-muse-ing that feeling was in this person, since such a feeling would be delusional.
You never feel that ?
If Da Vinci felt he was to talanted is ok
But if someone feel that not ?
We all have talent of something. to solve the problem is find it and feel it

"I wanna live like common people! "
I come from a very long line of peasants on both sides of my family.
You would have a great time living like common people Try it. You cant go wrong.
There is only one major qualification, you can not be inbred like the royalty.

Digital,
Too talented? I think you mean something else.
Verses more talented than most other artists? Is that what you mean?
I think 110 out of 100 artists think they are more talented than the next guy.
But who is counting?
Dave
this is not my quote "I wanna live like common people! "
Who cares wich one is better ? 100 artist think corectly couse they are normal people
Im not better than others and i dont feel that just sometimes i think that im too talanted
8 Years Ago
Again, ... delusional.
NO, I have NEVER felt this way, in case you have any doubts. I never will feel this way, but if I ever do, then somebody please come take me away, because I will have lost it.
Digital I wish I was more talented.
I have no clue what too talented is.
I do know many of us harbor the idea that we are better artists than the next guy.
That is a very human trait. I'd be worried about the competitive juices of some folks
if they said "oh no you are a far better artist than I will ever be". Not about to happen.
Not in this lifetime.

Digital: I think I understand what you are trying to say.
You accomplish something - a piece of art (for example), or a really great serve in volleyball that just goes spinning into the ground after it hits the other team's fingers, that is so much better than you thought you had the skills or talent to do that it seems as if it couldn't possibly be the "you" you have known since the day you were born who did it. It just somehow happened, perfectly, as if guided by magic.
It was your fingers doing the painting, or your hands serving the volleyball, but you wonder... where did that come from? You think to yourself... I really don't think I could do that again, I have no idea how I did that. But it feels sooooo great....

"when you did something but you cant to do in general :) "
I believe in being right sized. I can do things in general. I try to grow in general.
It is not I cant do things in general. It is not I can not attain in general.
Me personally in the auditory world, the office world, I feel failed. In this the visual world, I feel
very complete and successful. One makes the other sweeter. Other people do not have that.
I am beginning to see other human beings from a very different perspective.
Digital find balance. You are not an all or nothing. But that is what you are saying.

Does muse exist? I say no. "Nothing' or no 'inner-voice' tells me what and how to paint. I see things that appeal to me and just do my best at creating a likeness on canvas of it. And that is silly Saba, of course we exist! bop yourself on the head and tell me what you feel. One more thing, we can never be too talented, only too overconfident.
Phyllis how do we know if we really exist ? (please tell me hot to say this in corect english? )
all i know is i can't get that muse out of my room. i tried traps, poison, threats, short of tying a snare to his leg and dragging it out when the next truck passes by, i'm not sure how to get rid of him. always bugging me, thinking its amusing to help, i have my own abilities, i'm over flowing with talent... the muse, only eats and poops... everywhere. i may have to try glue traps.

Mike,
All you got to do is:
AMUSE A MUSE
Once they start giggling, you can do what ever you want to do with them.
But One Thing You Must Remember
NEVER, NEVER
ANNOY AN OYSTER

The title and the OP don't make sense together...
Muse is inspiration.
And the OP is about the talent that an artist has.
Thank you Ricardo for clarifying that. I was reading through this and thoroughly confused. By his admission the OP's native language is not English, but others should have picked up on this.
Used correctly, it would be "who is your muse?".
The thought of being "too talented" would probably be something like "does ego exist?". In this instance, it could also be swapped with "self importance".
But there is no one on FAA who is self important now, is there?
My muse left a few weeks ago. I have posters hung on every power pole in town, "Have you seen My Muse?" I can't imagine anyone but me could put up with her, she behaves pretty much like Mike's muse. It must be the way of "The Muse."
In the English language, if a person says that he/she is too talented, then it implies that the person is conceited, arrogant, or afflicted with a grossly exaggerated sense of self importance.
The language barrier here might be limiting my understanding of what the topic starter might be getting at. But based on the words whose meanings I understand the way I just described, I am NOT too talented. In fact, I have NO talent. I have persistence and endurance, driven by a modicum of intelligence.
Consequently, the muse likes to annoy me. I NEVER invite the darn creature in, but it always comes in anyway, like a stray animal that just becomes part of existence, whether you want it to or not. The muse, similar to me, is very persistent. It likes to taunt me. I think the muse is a sadist.
Oh, and I cannot prove that I exist. You will just have to take my word that I do.
Rene Descartes said basically that you exist as a thinking thing. The old I think therefore I am concept. That is good enough for me!
If I am thinking, then my thoughts are existing.
If my thoughts are existing, then a thinker of those thoughts is existing.
I am the thinker of the thoughts that I am thinking.
I, therefore, exist.
QED
P.S., I am the muse .. hehehehehehehe !

I vonder if anyone speaketh Englihs properly enough to make a piont on this thraed...and darm it on the auto correct! Smlie.
If you aren't inspired and don't hone your craft, you blame it on the muse.
Funny, how when you paint something that's great, the muse gets no credit.
When you hunker down and take this job seriously and work around the clock, the muse word isn't even mentioned.
I don't respect artists who look for excuses not to work.
period.
So have your muse, if you will...but don't expect to get anywhere, cuz that comes from hard work.

Drew:
Are they oil on canvas, digitally altered photos, or paint overs?
Except for the motel sign which is acrylic, the rest are oil on canvas. I usually do a lot of conceptual sketches based on photographs I have taken, usually adding or deleting a plant from the picture or moving doors and windows around, changing roof lines and other details, and once I have come up with a sketch I like, I draw it out on canvas and start painting. I guess you could say it is pre-digital image manipulation.
