Copyright On Architecture (among Other Things) - Website

Just ran across this website this morning, and with all the questions I see on Discussisons regarding copyright, I thought others might find it useful:
http://wiki.gettyimages.com/category/architecture

Oh yes, the disclaimer - I am not a lawyer, never have been, likely never will be, cannot expound further upon the subject and am not responsible for use of this message or any other :)

ps - the Getty site covers all sorts of things beyond architecture - I didn't realize that you can't even show an Airstream, whether or not the logo is showing, and license the image.

Thanks for the link. Useful, but not all encompassing. It's more geared to royalty free for stock images, i.e commercial use. There is a difference between stock image/commercial use and fine art print usage. Some properties don't distinguish between the two, but many do.

I am not a layer either. And I don't need to be to send an e-mail or written letter. When in doubt I ask the venue what image use is allowed and not allowed. You would be amazed at how many places are perfectly fine with image use as fine art prints. But if you don't ask, you'll never know.

Oh yes, that's a great list. Thanks.

Been looking for something like that for a while now.

Hopefully they keep it up to date.

It might change a bit soon, when the EU rules on the 'Freedom of Panorama' next week.

Rob.

Note that according to the aforementioned website, many of these subjects can be licensed for editorial use. That's why I made a custom editorial license for those types of subjects. I explain it in more detail here: http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2019574 As a general rule, anything that has a company logo or recognizable private property as the primary subject I set for editorial licensing only. And by the way, as I understand it, art is considered editorial use.

Art prints is NOT editorial use.

Carry on :).
