Overturned Rocks

I love to see images of things I've never seen before.

Let's see some images, that would have never seen the light of day, if it wasn't for your ability to capture it

This could be a fun and a totally diverse exercise.

It's all up to you guys

Edit:

"Overturned Rocks" can be taken either literally or figuratively.

I went to the beach one day looking for birds. But, the wind and the tide and the late afternoon sun gave me this.

I came across two fully grown black bears playing by the edge of the forest the other day and took a series of shots...they ended with a hug.

Do you ever get up close and personal with the small creatures?

One of my favorite little pollen eaters.

Millions of ladybugs, aka ladybirds, winter beside the creeks here by clustering on boulders, tree trunks and branches. When the weather begins to warm, they swarm downstream and disperse along riparian corridors to feed.

The soil is full of iron oxides here so I have to be careful where I step. My little western toads blend beautifully with the soil and red rocks. They like to excavate burrows in the soft soil beneath large garden rocks where it stays cool and damp. Each spring I look forward to my first sighting of them peering up from their doorways.

What a wonderful group of interesting, compelling and thought provoking images we have so far.

I'm sure there are many more out there.

Let's see them

These are fantastic! I'm treading carefully in this thread, because I know what lurks under rocks (literally), unless it's on a beach and there are cute little scurrying crabs.

When I was a geologist, especially in Australia, it was imperative every time you picked up a rock to make sure nothing was lurking on the other side.

Incredible...Kathleen, the Montezuma Quail feathering is a true optical illusion, what a wonderful disappearing act! In keeping with the theme, I have never seen anything like that!
Great Pelican image, also!

These are all great!

Good one, Roger...

This was shot in an abandoned gravel quarry near the NY / PA border. Don't think anyone else would have come across it.

Captured at an abandoned gravel pit. This tenacious little vine managed to defiantly persevere in a sea of rusty, decaying, corroded scrap metal.

We specialize in rocks around where I live. I'm always tripping over them and it's almost impossible to plant a garden. Sometimes they look downright monstrous.

Actually on this occasion, JC or Abbie would this print? The code to my gallery I can give you if you need it.

Great thread!

This is one of my favorite random photographs. The subject (a USPS truck) is oft seen and oft ignored, but I like the juxtaposition of various round-cornered rectangles. ;-)

So I guess these images would count, for they are moments before selfie phones and digital cameras.

What this collage shows is what I was doing and what Elvis was doing when we both lived in Memphis and we were both enjoying our relatively new careers.

Many of the shots are from my 16mm Bolex, taken at Sun Records founder Sam Phillips' home. When the film was developed, we all went over to Elvis' new home to watch on his projector.

Oh, one more thing: It was the beginning of ROCK and roll.
