Customizing Question

I have a potential customer who wants me to customize a tote bag with her picture. I would add to my existing markup depending on how much I have to do to the image. My question is: Can I change the markup just for this one image when I upload it and then have her order it and drop ship? I guess the other way would be to have her send me a check or paypal, etc.

I did this with a phone for another customer but it was someone I knew and she gave me a check when I delivered it to her after I had it shipped to me.

I believe you can Karen.

Make a password protected gallery for just her, title it however you want (private, etc), provide her the password, and put whatever price(s) you want. She will be the only one with access to that gallery, except you, unless she shares the password. She can order directly from that gallery, you'll get credit for the sale, and get your set markup. :)

I would do what Greg suggested as it will count in the sale rankings that way.

I did it like that for my brother . He saw a 20x30 of one of my b/w images he wanted, so I setup the pw protected gallery, removed my markup ($80 at that time), and he ord'd the print. When he rec'd the print and and was happy with it, I deleted that particular gallery.

I agree, I have a password protected gallery with images that are custom requests. Just like all of the regular galleries, you get to pick the mark up.

Thanks Greg. That sounds like a good idea. I will tell her that the current price does not include a customization fee.

@Nancy. Do you make a password protected gallery for each client? I have one so far named "client". If I put the new one in there they would each be able to see all that are in there. How would you handle that other than different galleries?

No problem, Karen. When you set it up, just put pricing in for the tote bag only, leaving all the other product boxes blank. If it were me though, I might be tempted to also price some 10 and 25 pack greeting cards. You never know. :)

I would make a separate password protected gallery for another client with a different password and gallery name for each! After the sales you can delete them.

I will do that. Makes sense that way. Thanks Jessica.

About creating galleries - I made one for client photos (when I remember to ask for them). I didn't put any pricing in any categories. I want people to be able to see it so I didn't make it PW protected. However, the visitors pick it up. Do you think this is Okay to do? Guess there is no way to stop that and it doesn't hurt for more eyeballs to see them but the bots pick it up. Anyone else do this?

If an image is in a password protected gallery only you can see it. If you sign out you won't see it. Do you mean you uploaded 2 of them? One public and one private? You should put in the prices just in case....

This was another gallery I created for client photos. It isn't private because I want to keep it available to view. They are not for sale as they are just photos of purchased artwork in people's homes. The issue I was commenting on is that they show up on the visitor views. Guess there is no way around that.

The photos are of my artwork in the buyer's home.

Since you have the private gallery named Clients, use a different name for the photos of pieces you've sold. Past Sales, Purchases, Showroom or something similar instead of Client Photos would avoid confusion. Then explain on that page exactly what's there and if those items are still available on FAA, be sure to point that out.

Yes. Good idea. Thanks.
