Diy Gear
Well, I bought a super-telephoto lens, and have been combing the net for gear, and to my "not surprise" any gear out there for mobility and wildlife/bird, photography is crazy expensive. I was looking for a quality monopod, and maybe a gimbal head. and will continue to look, but in a moment of genius, or "must have it now" mentality, I went to lowes. I was delighted to find a tool belt-complete with two huge hangy-pocket thingies, a loop that would be for a hammer if I used a hammer to take pictures, and a small front hangy thing that is perfect for the foot of my monopod to rest while I had it setup half-pod style. In one of the big pocket thingies, I could put my backup dslr with an 18-200mm lens, it had separate pockets for my phone, soda, crackers, and other desirable goodies. the hammer ring was great for handing my monopod when not in use, and there is another big pocket thing is still available for whatever goodies I need it for, such as a large plastic garbage bag to put my big bat-girl utility belt, big supertele, and other goodies that may need to stay dry when I get caught in the rain, like I did twice today-so they are safe when I huddle next to an oak tree in a thunderstorm because I got too distracted taking pictures of woodpeckers to realize that I probably should have found shelter.
I am thinking of looking for a "plan" to make a halfpod with a diy tilt head, since on a mono I don't need a head that will pan. Any of you have ingenious DIY ideas?
