New Website, Need Critique Please

I just started a new website and before I finish it with descriptions, etc, would you please critique it?

Your website seems basic and functional, which is good.

My only suggestion, at the moment, is that you choose another image for one of your galleries, instead of having two galleries with the same-themed image (sunglasses dude).

Some people are probably going to criticize your choice of light-on-dark as your website's overall color polarity, but I am okay with that.

The canvas gallery pops to left justification instead of staying centered, I'd fix that. For your type of work, I think a lighter background would be better. Light blue or pale yellow. Also, the images are very small. I know you don't want them to large but I'd let them be a up to 900 pixels wide 'ish. Those are too small for a buyer to see very well. Love the banner!!! ha ha

I like the basic design, too.

What you should correct, are the "jumping pages". Another thing I donīt like, is the visitor counter. Those numbers are for you, not for the public, especially if you have not so many visitors.

The biggest problem: Your site is not mobile friendly (= responsive). Itīs displayed much too small on my phone.

I would recommend to use a ready-to-use, responsive template, on a platform like Wordpress or Squarespace.

I think your banner looks very busy with too many things going on and I am not a fan of black background but that's just my personal opinion.

Hi Rita!
Building a website can be daunting....don't get discouraged!
1. Make sure your words and images lined up on the home page.
2. Keep home page descriptions consistent " watercolor paintings on paper" and " acrylic paintings on canvas."
3. Dump the visitor stats....especially when they are low....they are for you to utilize
4. " all rights reserved " should have another line with you copyrighted name, symbol and the year...people have to know to what the rights are reserved.
4. are you selling or just showing? If the former, get a shopping cart or links set up next.

Adding more to your to-do list!

All your images are links, but they don't go anywhere. If you're not going to link to a larger image or to another location, just make the images static.

All your pages are centered except for "canvas" which is left-aligned.

You have a beautiful smile. Put a picture of yourself on your "about" page so people can see the artist. A picture of you in the studio painting would be wonderful.

header/banner to small and the black is overwhelming possibly with your gallery images being larger would balance the black.

The text in the "About Me" section needs to be edited -- nothing major, but you've got a couple of typos and several missing periods. Fixing those will make your page look more professional.

Thank you all so much for your critique about my website, I will follow your advise and make some changes,
The only change I cannot figure out is the one with the "jumping" canvas site, I tried everything and it wont change

Didn't load for me. Not with Google Chrome anyway.

Such bright cheerful images. Two thoughts:

-the font at the top with the navigation (Home, watercolors, about me, etc) is a bit small and scratchy, hard to read.
-on the about me page, the stark white font on the stark black background was hard on my eyes. Made me want to skim it fast and get out of there. If you just barely soften the black background, and then make the white font a softer extremely light gray, it will LOOK like white on black, but not irritate eyeballs.

Best of luck on your website!

"Welcome to my website" is a very poor opening message, don't you think?

Lass dir mal etwas mehr spezifisches einfallen.
