Michael, the artist's mind is a highly creative one. Some take a practical approach to creating art, while some go all out for the imagination. Somehow, art has left room for a dot on a canvas to mean such things as a family, a group of shoppers in tight formation, etc.

I can tell you one thing, the contest submissions gave me a greater appreciation of fathers, especially those who may have problems demonstrating their feelings. I see behaviours like the ones portrayed in some of the images all the time, but before the contest, I never really paid attention to how much it may mean to a father. It gave me food for thought.
