Not sure if this is the case, but from what I remember, there are 2 ways to remove an image, and I did it wrong the first few times! But I think you need to "edit" the image and not "Upload new Image"! Edit let's you change the image and retain ALL the info, which it will show next to the image, where as "Upload new Image" removes it and thinks you're uploading a un-related image,
Abbie or JC need to verify this, but take a look..........
