Flooding In Texas

For those who do not know, I am quasi-homeless after last tuesday's storm. I am not as bad off as many others.

I have not been online much except for my phone due to not having a habitable domicile, but I am hoping in the next few weeks to be able to get back into the swing of things.

As it happens, I took some time off in order to move into a new place and this past week, we had been trying to get settled in the new place. Unfortunately, Tuesday around 1am, water started entering my new apartment from underneath the walls. I looked outside the window and the water level was about 6 inches above the top of the slab. Thankfully, my son and my neighbors are in good health. Unfortunately, a couple was in the process of being rescued across the street from my Condo when they drowned after their boat capsized.

Needless to say, with more rain in the forecast, it is uncertain if we are going to have a repeat of the flooding again.

I am on the 16th floor of a hotel and I am parked on the 3rd floor of the parking garage, so it would be mighty difficult to flood me out now. LOL

For those of you who have kept up with me on my Facebook and offered encouragement, it is greatly appreciated. The things that I have lost are just that... Things.

I wish everyone well and I hope to be back online once we get past this.

I'm glad you're safe, David. I feel bad for your neighbors. Nature can sure straighten out our priorities real fast.

I am sorry to hear of your struggles, & the suffering of those who have lived & those who have lost.

We think we have problems daily, but health and Nature will teach us what's what quickly.
Certainly happy to hear that you and your son are doing ok.

It's been a rough week, and this evenings rain is certainly not helping. Glad to hear you're physically ok at least.

I'm so sorry for your terrible struggle, David, and that of others. The news I've seen is just beyond belief. It's good to know you're finally in a safe place. I cannot imagine what I would have done in your position, but it's true that you find out how strong you are when you have no other alternative but to be strong. Stay safe!

David, glad your son and you are okay.

Got off the phone with you the other day, saw the storms and have been thinking of you and Houston with every news report.

Stay dry. LOL

Hi, David,

I'm so sorry to hear of your flood-related troubles, but very glad to know you made it out of that apartment.

In San Antonio, we've been spared the worst of it, so far, but the daily downpours/flood warnings/tornado warnings have us all holding our breath -- especially as we've had two major floods here in the past decade (2007 and 2013). It's really hard to describe flooding to someone who's never experienced it; the same with drought.

One thing's for sure -- we can always count on Texas weather to be extreme.

Stay safe, David -- and stay dry.

Well, it sounds like I may be back in my place by Monday or Tuesday of this week. (YAY!!!)

I am very blessed to have friends who have taken me into their homes and given me a a place to sleep while this process has dragged on.

That's great news, David -- I'm pleased to read such a positive update. May the rest of 2015 be infinitely better for you! :-)
