Revised :)

Please comment below so I can browse more images than what shows up in the search engines. In return it would be greatly appreciated if you would take a moment to view my artwork.

Thank you,
Megan

I think Glenn meant you should search for a Group here at FAA that is geared towards promoting each other's images. I think there are quite a few. Check the link he provided.

here's the thing. comments, likes, fav's... its like getting a signature in your year book, it makes you feel happy for a moment, but it won't make you popular. and that won't help you in the search like it used to. too many took advantage, and its not really going to help you out. if you need people to look at your art, you have to advertise. other artists rarely buy from each other.

you have a total of 12 images. if you want more views, upload more things. you have to advertise yourself outside the place if you want more views. you get higher in the search by selling, for the most part. comments and the like won't help that much, its actually a total waste of time.

It does say right at the top right "Your likes help us organize our search results".

As Glen pointed out there are groups in which people spend hours liking each others stuff. Some enjoy just seeing other people's work. So if you are just after likes go for it. It can be social.

If you are looking to sell then you have to promote your work outside of the bubble.

On another topic from this discussion... Where are y'all promoting outside of FAA? I attend some shows around town and sell art in diners and what not but other than that I just promote on pinterest, facebook, and twitter. I'm not only looking to sell. It brings me great joy just having people see my art and provide feedback.

Cynthia,

Lots of folks just want to get involved with others in promoting and seeing their work, as you well know the drill. I wasn't taking aim at you... and responding more to the goggled dude who prides himself at not reciprocating in commenting etc. Just some of the general stuff that gets said and is without total balance.

Good advice? Much of it. I've learned lots from those who are into the keywording and cyber promotion gig. Sometimes people just want to integrate with other people instead of cut and dry keywords and advertising advice.

Thanks for emphasizing those links I put in the other thread.

I would go on Flickr is you just want to share. This is set up more like a selling platform. But there is no reason you can't just socialize.

Ok thanks, I will add that too. I want to share my art as well of sale, but like I said this site is a great way for me to do both and I really like keeping in touch with this side of my life. Keeping myself exposed to others art helps.

Edward,

Socializing is what leads to making contacts and networks. The key to it, if one is really looking to sell, is to get in, be courteous, make the connections, and get out when it's time for business. The unfortunate problem is "socializing can become an adrenaline habit that is hard to kick."

P.S. We need an FAA Chamber Of Commerce that has a Mixer Group.
