New here and slow getting all set up.
Was going to do our about/Biography but after looking at lots of others they all look like someone else wrote them,
that is they do not look like the member did it OR is this how you do it yourself ?.

Some people do it in third person, others first. I think it's mostly a matter of opinion.

I see FAA as an extension of my personal website, and therefore I use first person in my bio. On other sites, like my Amazon Author Central page, my bio is much shorter and in third person, because on sites like this, nobody expects a personal involvement of the publisher.

i hate the third person - partly because its hard to do and keep it straight. but the third tends to boast way more than the first. they tend to repeat their name too many times. and i find it sounds arrogant or pompous.
i prefer first person, i am talking to the customer, i'm not a little plaque on the wall. just outline what you make, why you make it, and what you specialize in. keep it to the point, its not a book jacket. or your entire life, keep it simple.

i've seen so many 3rd persons read like one of these:
Mike Savad grew up in a log cabin, he cut wood and created art. Later in years he won the noble prize in log cutting. Then I went on to become the president.
boasting with mixed persons.
or
Mike Savad is a great artist, he has a unique vision, unusual and well done art.
Mike Savad creates colorizations that resemble paintings, you can almost reach in and feel it. your there. its awesome
Life is as pretty as you want to make it...Quote from Mike Savad
Mike Savad wrestled a bear and won, winner of the golden human award for the last 7 years. He won many prizes at the local fair and several high school events, despite being twice their age and not going to school.
Mike Savad played on tour with beetles, despite the fact that he was born after they weren't singing any more, he had the ability to build a time machine and traveled through time just to be famous.
Mike Savad invented to following things: polio vaccinations, the internet, computers, the M in microsoft, stands for Mike. He went on to teach cats and dogs to live together in harmony. Overall, he's a great stand up guy, and you should buy his art at once.
i've read so many that read just like that.
all those statements are true btw.

Mike: One could actually put that they were TIME's 2006 person of the year, and it would be absolutely true.

if you ever find a picture of a person in the past that has a handlebar mustache like mine... i invented that look. more than that i show up in every picture from the past - if you see that mustache, its mine.

Dying here. Mike, you are too much. Congrats on your many awards, btw. I hear Golden Human is tough to win even once.

Cute, Mike. :-)
I do a mix of third and first person. It's easier to "boast" in third person. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with boasting. You can write it in a way that doesn't sound pompous.
Being pompous is bad, boasting is not. Who else knows what you do more than you? You are your own salesperson. Don't worry about what people think. Sell yourself.
It's all in how you write it. To be pompous or not to be pompous. To boast or not to boast. That is the question.

I stay consistent with third person...especially because people google my name...I want them to see the consistency.

a quick secret... don't tell anyone, but the golden human award... has chocolate and caramel underneath. hard part is opening it without deforming it and using a filler to keep the shape. because if i don't eat it, something else will.
i've seen people boast about all the awards they got when they displayed at a bank. or one person that quoted only herself. that one was a true lol moment. i've seen them where they go into their life long history - but in the third person. family life, medical history. it's amazing the stuff people put in that box. especially the medical stuff, your employer isn't even allowed to ask for that stuff, yet some people just give it freely.

Are you referring to me, Mike. Lol. On the quoting myself part.
It was truly a great interview.
You will have to write your own unless you know a writer who knows your work and is willing to do it for free (assuming you don't want to pay someone).
People like to read about you and what you do. A simple artist statement is all you need for your FAA page. I have a hyperlink to more about me that links to my artist websites bio.
A bio is challenging to create. An artist statement is easier and usually only requires a few sentences.

Mike, I already knew that part about you inventing the handlebar mustache....you do know that on the West coast they refer to it as the "suavey Savad".
@jani - nope, someone else, but people will always see what i say reflect them some how. this bio was really long and mostly had long quotes from the artist.
yeah i've made all kinds of things possible.... for example, i went back in time and found Newton... not only did i invent the cookie, i invented gravity.

Mike, even if you were referring to me, it wouldn't matter. I like what my artist statement says on my FAA page :-)
It took 4 million re-writes, or so it seemed, to get it the way it is.
My bio on my artist website is first person and does need more work. Mostly in consolidating info, but is sufficient for now.
I just read an article on bios. They recommend third person and a list of accomplishments amount other things.

Hello and welcome to Fine Art America!!!! Of course the Principal Actor, Artist and Photographer prefers 3rd it is very vital especially being involved in the movie industry at current. Yet, as soon as my Facebook Actors Fan Page is completed its 1st person...... What is most important you are comfortable with your bio its your preference and no one else. A bio in a instance is just a synopsis of who you are and your accomplishments. There are at times take for instance a novelist, I do read their bio and in most instances I find interest to read the noel or book by its cover, title and 1st page. The 1st page being the seller if I will continue to read the book or not.
Some will agree and disagree does it matter the bio what person when in fact its the contents of each and every gallery present here. There is rarely customer artist relationship it the value of your work and its what they desire to have hanging in their homes or office spaces. You have to admit when management decided upon a quality bio photo that one difference sure makes us all shine. I enjoying reading everyone's bio I get the opportunity to read and then the one's who have none well that alone could be another topic and or their work speaks for itself (no bio needed)
I have to laugh, the city block apartment complex I have resided for 4 years a two bedroom suite faces the entire city view, it sure is my penthouse now now a two bedroom suite, lol, lol, lol...beaux'ting again, I asked management could I have a red carpet installed on the 4th floor. They know of my actors status and they laughed but informed me a gold star on the door would be fine. I have a gold star on my door...lol, lol, lol, lol.
I am resident actor here at Fine Art America and I do sign autographs in real life....I love to boost here in New Orleans I beaux's.
Sales and Fame, that's my name.....
And by the way, congrats to the both of you, your gallery images are beautiful and best of luck with your success here at Fine Art America!!!!!!
Cheers,
Michael Hoard Principal Actor, Artist and Photographer
