Model Release

Hi I am new to this site and excited to get started but I don't see any info on model releases for my photography work. I am on some stock photo sites and they won't let you up load any pictures with people unless you have model releases. Does this site ask for model or property releases>

No Ava, this site does not ask for releases. They are trusting that you are uploading only legitimate images.

if your selling for art - you don't need a release. a release is to keep you and them safe if you sell it as stock for commericial purposes.

A release is to protect the artist (and other parties who might use/post the art) against allegations deriving from the use of the model's image without the model's permission.

If you have written permission in the form of a signed release from the model, it's a little difficult for the model to turn around later and successfully assert that you didn't have permission.

Our art guild has every artists' model we hire sign a release prior to posing.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the help. I have a few photos that have people not as main subject but in the distance that might, maybe, could possibly, kinda be recognizable. I do get releases if I am shooting with a model. Thanks again.

This is pretty long, but it is one of the best articles I've seen on the subject. http://www.danheller.com/model-release.html
