Multiple Uploads - Need To Upload More Than 5 At A Time

Just wondering if there is any possibility of being able to upload more images than just 5 at a time any time in the near future. Since you did changes to the upload options, just wondering if you will offer bulk upload capabilities any time soon. Is there a way I can ftp up dozens of images (or more) at a time where it will allow me to customize the images with keywords, etc once uploaded? This doing it only 5 at a time is taking me days to get them uploaded. Just wondering.

i'm guessing no, because it would invite people dumping their entire 10,000 picture collection from their last vacation.

i did them one at a time, 1200 of them. it only took a month.

Yah... that's the problem I am having. I photograph horse shows and have hundreds of images that I want to offer to the riders but it takes days and sometimes up to a week to get them all done. I can't do anything else as I have to do them all 5 at a time. I am losing clients because my competitors are using sites like Photoshelter and such and they allow multiple uploads, automatic watermarks of their own logo, etc. etc. so they are getting theirs up in less than a day. I really like FAA because it offers pillows and phone cases and such. My clients like to see these different products but I may have to find something else that will accommodate what I need to stay competitive.

while others do it, this place really isn't set up to be for event photographers. best you can do is use lightroom or something that has some kind of automatic bot uploader thing. and as long as all the info is filled, it should be able to upload. one guy sent 6000 junk pictures up that way once.

best you can do is put it up onto those other sites first, then do it here. there is a suggestion list floating around though, enter it there.

I understood the restrictions when it was an art site, but FAA a stock and product site now. Unless space is a limiting factor (just charge more) there seems no reason to limit the uploads.

They don't actually limit the amount that can be on your account but they do limit the number you can upload at a time. As Mike said, it doesn't appear to be the right platform for event photography simply due to the number you can upload at a time. Wish I knew how to do the Lightroom upload thing but am not the sinister :-). I did suggest before more upload and I do understand that they need to be careful about 1000s of images of nothing going on the server but they should offer a package for those who want to offer hundreds of shots at a time.

Just a comment, I would imagine the owner of a horse would love a pillow with his/her horse's image on it! Your portraits are beautiful :)

Thank you, Joy! Yes, most of us treat our horses like part of the family and offering something cute like a pillow is something that the other photographers in my area don't offer. It is something I planned on pushing a lot this year but I spend 3-5 days at a show taking shots then 3-5 days cropping, adding logos, and uploading so I don't have much time to actually promote too much. I imagine I could make a heck of a lot of sales if I had the time to promote to the riders that I take shots of.

I would use a site that caters to event photographers.

I am going to research that, Edward. Any suggestions? I still want to offer all the FAA offers but you are right, there must be something out there that caters to event photographers.

I think this site is good for the fine art/product aspect of your potential sales. The 'event' photography which is more documentary than fine art, might be more efficiently processed elsewhere. Many of us use multiple sites for different types of work that we do.

I would also imagine a grandparent or parent showing off a pillow with their child riding dressage. It would be unique and people love to have things that others do not! :)

We do not discuss other sites that compete I'm afraid. Sorry about that.

I believe that you can get software which will batch-upload any selected folder - to the likes of flickr. You can just drag & drop your photos to the folder, leave the 'puter working night & day. And soon, all should be uploaded and in place!!! Might be an idea to have a good grade ISP upload speed as well...

I know we shouldn't discuss other sites that compete, Abbie but you didn't reply to my initial query.

Wish I knew how to do what you are saying Jack. How would you drap & drop to what folder?

We do not have bulk uploads, no. This is on purpose and will not change I'm afraid. Sorry.
