Instagram - Instaprint

Since Iīve found only rather old discussions about Instagram and Instaprint, Iīd like to bring up the topic, again.

I joined Instagram some weeks ago, mostly to secure my name. I always have my camera with me, so I donīt use my phone to take pictures. This makes Instagram rather useless for me, I thought.

By accident I found out, that with Lightroom Mobile, itīs very easy to upload pics to Instagram, without detours over other apps or the cloud. You donīt even have to convert your RAW files into JPG before you upload.

Does anybody successfully use Instagram to market your pictures? Whatīs about Instaprints? Any sales? Do you have different prices at Instaprint?

I'd be interested in this, too. I also have an account but haven't uploaded anything to it. It's just a pain getting the pics from the phone to the computer for the most part and they never seem to turn out very decent for me. I do have the CC Photographers package, though, but haven't turned on Lightroom Mobile yet.

Lightroom Mobile is perfect for showing other people your pictures on the phone. I donīt use it for any editing (yet). Uploading to Instagram with Lightroom Mobile is as easy as sharing or sending as email.

The topic seems to be not very interesting ... 😎

A couple of months ago there was a photographer featured in Outdoor Photographer who almost exclusively marketed through Instagram. I can't recall his name, but if get some time I'll try to find that article.

i never got into it. like Carolyn said, it makes little sense to upload my images from my machine, to the phone and people are expecting phone shots there. if you look at the forum, its almost dead, usually that's a sign of a weak site. don't know if it is, but in my experience it is.

the main topics usually are -- i'm new, i'm not selling, why am i not selling. and when i look at tags i see them all hashtagged for some reason. not a member so i can't tell them.

That sounds familiar ...

I'm instagram and enjoy a following there with lots of interaction. I have a link in my profile to my AW instead on ntraprints which I cant seem to find time to look into. I do think it helps traffic but not sales.

Colin -- Don't know why you've found old discussions about InstaPrints, here is my recent thread

http://pixels.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2244804 on faa http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2244804

I'm on Instagram and find it much more intuitive for photographers ( and me personally ) than FB is. I think FB ows IG for a reason. I find the key to it is using the right hashtags.

As Groups Mod I cleaned up the groups over there and it seems every week on the discussions you'll find a few new members looking for attention or direction.

Colin, here's the article I told you about. Chris Burkard. There's a breakout box on the last page that talks about his Instagram marketing.

I'm brand new to instagram. I joined when I got a new phone the other day. I thought it would be fun to do some cell phone photography. It's kind of like the modern polaroid.

I figured since I'd be doing more phone photography I'd try out instaprints.com....I might as well try to make a few bucks for my time right?

I'm interested in building my following at instagram, and I've followed all those who listed their link in this thread. You can find me at: https://instagram.com/apacheco_photos/

Frank, do you know if you can change your name once you've signed up or do you have to close out the account and open another one? I can't find anywhere on there to ask anyone and none of the FAQs address this.

Also, are you all signed up as just a normal account or a business account?

Yes, you can! - In your profile settings.

Hi
I'm glad I came upon this discussion.
I have been thinking of signing up to Instagram for a while, but it seems it is indeed more geared to photographers than actual painters.
They seem big on the visuals and you are expected to up date these on a frequant basis to get a good following is that right?
Seems that maybe more of a challange for an artist, I do have quite a few pieces but not sure if I could keep up the demand to keep an audience as my work can take a while.
Maybe I'm wrong. Any thoughts?

Are you on Flickr? Flickr makes it easy to share your Flickr images to IG with a share button that will open up in IG. This is extra handy for those of you who backup your images to Flickr. Once they are shared you can then opt to sell them on Instaprints!
