New Image Uploader!

We've got a new image uploader! Try uploading a new image (or editing an existing one), and you'll see some major changes:

1. You can now resize, reposition, and change the default background color for each product that you sell. This allows you to configure your products exactly as you want your buyers to see them.

For example... let's say that the main area of interest in one of your images is located on the right side of the image. On the upload form, you can now reposition your image so that the right-side area of interest is centered on your throw pillows, phone cases, duvet covers, etc.

2. You can upload transparent PNG files! Check this out:

http://fineartamerica.com/products/santa-monica-california-sean-mcdunn-throw-pillow-14-14.html

Change the background color of the pillow, and watch what happens.

3. You can use different images for different products. If you have a certain version of your image that you want to use for phone cases... and a slightly different version that you want to use for throw pillows... you can do that!

The new uploader is a huge improvement over the previous uploader. It's a great combination of simplicity and flexibility.

Give it a try, and let me know if you have any questions. If anyone uploads a transparent PNG file, post a link to your throw pillow in this discussion so that everyone can take a look at see how it works.

This is the beginning of lots of great news to come...

Sean

One quick question, what would be the procedure to set the locations of the images on artwork already uploaded? Re-upload it?

Sweet addition.

YAY1 Thank you Sean!!! I just uploaded 4 new images and was so happily surprised....

Thomas,

No - you don't have to reupload them. Just click "Edit Image" underneath the image to open the upload form that for that image, change the sizes and positions, and then click "Submit" to save your changes.

That's it.

Since every image is different... and since the area of interest in each image is different... there is no way to reposition them "in bulk". They all have to be repositioned individually.

How long before the Multiple Upload feature will be back online? I photographed a horse show on the weekend and need to upload numerous images. Thanks.

Works like a charm to edit and have the new options....understood there would be no way to do this in bulk. Well implemented in my opinion. Thank you!

Really enjoying this update! I discovered it before I saw your thread :) Thanks so much Sean!

Gill Billington

I noticed that on an image I have that is less than 2000 pixels square it does allow me to increase the size to fill the duvet cover. Will this still print ok?

Also on one of my pillows which was a smaller file size the largest size had no price so I have filled that in as I am hoping that we can now print those larger than before. Please let me know if this is correct or not.

Mark Tisdale

Just noticed the same thing as Gill - it let me zoom to fill a duvet with an image that is not nearly 5000x5000 - I didn't enable it, though. I'm pretty sure that won't work?

Wonderful update! For the pillows, it allows you to reposition only for the square size, though, unless I'm doing it wrong. I'm afraid to try it, because reconfiguring for a square pillow might throw off the configuration for a rectangle pillow. Anybody run into this yet?

Thank you, Sean!

There's a lot of work to do in my "galleries"

For further improvements could be great to control the image tilt

Thanks FAA, I really love the changes. Would it be possible since you are making changes to make available to see pillows against a sofa??? This would really set them off and be a great sales aid also.

Sister Laura,

Tap/Click on your name in the upper right corner of any page, then select the first item, called 'Profile Page'. Upload options should be along the top. If they're not, select 'Images' to the right of your name.

Alison Belsan Horton

I see it says upload image or upload multiple images but I don't see where I can resize it

Woot! Woot! It also makes Duvet covers available to all!

Rowena Throckmorton

Wait, I just noticed a glitch. On my artist website, http://rowena-throckmorton.artistwebsites.com/index.html , it doesn't show the duvet covers when you select to shop by product. They show up on the individual image page, but not the browse by products page:

http://rowena-throckmorton.artistwebsites.com/art/all/all/duvet+covers

(Maybe this will be corrected by the time anyone reads this post.)

Maurice Gold

Sounds cool. I haven't had time to try it, but while we're here:
Have you had the issues that plague me:
* With a 25megabyte limit, a 1.5 megabyte file is slow to upload, then sometimes says: file-size too big.
* I find upload times slooooooow, and have to try several times.
* Why only 25 Megabytes?
* I also find colour-shift issues. My images are usually tiff, or PSD. JPEG is a lossy file-format, and I've seen de-saturation on images.

I know I can come across as complaining, but as a former It manager, I am a pernickety customer

Gill Billington

Alison, in the edit screen on each image you will see that on pillows, duvets and phone cases there is a button that says "customise product" Click on that and you will see a slider which allows you to resize the image and position it where you think it looks best for that product. You can change the background color there or you can make a new image and upload it just for that product.

Mike Savad

@maurice, make sure your files are in RGB - keep in mind that if your using aRGB, the screen will show it as sRGB - which will have less saturated colors in the green and the blue on the screen.

Hey, is it possible to show how a big poster-size print might look in a room setting, like over a couch?

Wow, thank you so much for great news ! I am glad abaut many news ,shower Curtain, Bags , t-shirts......:-)

Rebecca Matthews

This is great news!!!! I do have a question: I am not getting an option to make a shower curtain from my art, nor do I see any info about it. What are the file sizes required for a shower curtain? Could it be that my images are not big enough to warrant the option?

Many thanks,
Rebecca

Love the feature, love the option, but have a question.

It looks like the customers themselves can change the cropping of an image for a throw pillow. Is this true?

I checked my site while logged out, clicked on an image, clicked the "tote pillow" option, and the sizing slider came up for me as a customer.

I do question that option for customers, as that leaves it open for anyone to alter the actual context of the artists' photographs being used... which seems less than desirable from the artists viewpoint.

Do I have this wrong?

Great being able to crop and position images on products, thanks Sean.

One small thing, which may have been mentioned in the 'big skip' (didn't read them all), is it possible to have a grid or crosshairs in the crop/zoom tool to enable accurate centering of the image?

Dean Triolo

Is there a way to adjust the images on the products that are already there or do I have to reload everything? I keep bringing up my images and can't find anyway to edit them.
Thanks,
Dean

go to edit your pic,and scroll down and each one will appear, eg tote bags, duvets and you can edit them there .

Roy Pedersen

I have some images that are horizontal and for duvet covers they would look ok if rotated to vertical.Think about an image of a car.Do I have to upload a vertical image or can I change the orientation of the image I have online somehow

Abbie Shores

Hi you can change the image in certain products now on your edit page. Edit the image then scroll down and add the rotated version but, if you want both on the product you need to upload both copies

Roy Pedersen

Thanks Abbie. As usual the Oracle has the answer
