Who's Stealing?

In reading some recent posts, I see that there is a way to see if someone is stealing your image. How do I look to see if someone is stealing mine?

Do an image search on Google or TinEye.

Just a quick aside. It is classed as an infringement when people use images which they did not have the rights to. Copyright Infringement. That is what you will take them to court for if it goes that far. They do not go for image theft which would be to physically remove an artwork from a gallery or similar.

Everybody is stealing everybody's images. Out of the 30 billion or so images on the internet everyone here on this site has the egos of an elephant. I have never seen so many people so suspicious of everyone wanting their images. You would think this is the only place online to get images. Check google. Put a subject in and there are so many images why would someone just say ,oh im going to faa to get my images so I can sell them. Come on? really? wow.. Even the most famous artist in the world don't worry like the people on here. But I agree with Edward I love the tineye and the google reverse search they are kool.

Speak for yourself, Dominic. I do my best on the rare occasions I use another's work to give credit, get permission, or at least conform to fair use conventions. But I never intentionally "steal" imagery, and If I found that I had done so, by neglect or error, would immediately take down any such image. I don't use pinterest at all, for example, because when you pin an image, you are claiming to own the rights, per the user agreement of the site.

I do partly agree with Dominic, in that there are two subjects that cause so much fretting and hand-wringing on the boards it makes you want to weep: "who's stealing my images" and "copyright".

In the end if an image can be seen it can be stolen, copied printed out or whatever. There's simply no way out of this. get over it.

As for the copyright issue, this has been dragged around the houses, beaten to death and resurrected more times than an entire extended family of vampires in a bad movie...

There are cases of light lifting or ignorant borrowing and then there are cases which border on systematic syndicated crime. Like when one finds entire portfolios of stolen images on stock sites.
