Keywords & Descriptions

Off and on for the past few days I have been having a conversation with a "fan" of my photography. She had sent me an email via my site to ask if it was okay to share links to my photos from a Cemetery that is located in Clarksville TN on a Facebook page/group. I have a feature on my site where one can add photos to favorites and then share those favorites with me, friends and family.

This is a good example of adding the place and the location to keywords. It is also a good example to be descriptive with background information of your subject and if historical add the history of the main subject of your photo capture.

The following is just a snippet of our conversation:

M. S. May 8th, 6:52pm:
Thank you so much. I will be happy too! You're a very spectacular photographer. I have enjoyed looking at many of your photos. Thank you once again! M. S.

You are more than welcome and I am glad you have enjoyed my photography. May I ask how did you come across my site?

M. S. May 8th, 7:07pm:
I have lived here for a little over 25 years, I have searched many sites covering history, arts, statues, and events. I myself feels that you capture the whole essence of time, emotion, and I just love your work. I thank you for placing them to view. I have enjoyed many pieces of your work.

M. S. May 8th, 7:11pm:
The cemetary was brought to my attention regarding the the young 6 year old girl. I remembered seeing her. I was able to find her through you. I was so ecstatic too!

For those of you that struggle with keywords I use the following site off and on as an additional help. Mind you not all the keywords will work with your image but it does help speed up the process and perhaps at times enlighten you to words you have missed.

Microstock Keyword Tool

This is only a tool to help further your keywording along.

No for that I agree would be a bit hard to do but you can write a good title and nice description of the abstract.

Describe what inspired the abstract.
What were you thinking when you created the abstract.
What feelings or emotions do you hope to get across to the viewer with the abstract.

for abstracts, you have to convey a feeling of some kind. however its more about showing people you have them and if it touches them in some way. keywording is more flexible with those, but to a point.

Yeah the keywords for abstracts need to be a bit abstract as well and of course don't use filler or spam keywords. What I mean by that is say the name of a famous painter or photographer or anyone well know to draw attention to the abstract.

based on color alone, you can mention a bunch of emotions. if there is movement or swirls or what have you. like if you have a blob of blue, you can mention ocean, water, wet, atmosphere or what have you, but can't say things like obama, car, dog, or cat. but you can fill in with a bunch of odd words that won't fit elsewhere. despite that though, people have to really like the abstract so in the end it may not matter.
