@Floyd -- I've never sold a Limited Time Promotion to an unknown buyer here on FAA, but I've sold several of them over the years to my local customers. I run a weekly promo that I boost on Facebook. It's one image...only one canvas print available...only run the LTP for the weekend, and once it's over, I NEVER offer that image as a LTP again. So I have a different image each weekend. I've been doing it weekly for a little over two years, and have sold about a dozen of them. So I'm not getting rich, but that's a dozen sales that would not have happened without the promo. And by never repeating an image, I get past the idea that people will just wait until some other time when it's "on sale." It creates a sense of urgency.
Plus -- I get feedback from people as I'm out and about, that they look forward to seeing what I'm going to put up on my Friday promo. And several people have even commented when I run a little late on Friday, and don't get it posted first thing in the morning as usual, lol. So I know that it's helping to keep my art "top of mind."
The other thing I've used the LTPs for is to help bring the price down for a local customer who is wanting a canvas very close to a size that is offered in the limited time promotions. For instance, if I have an image that is ordinarily 36" x 25.24", and it doesn't hurt the integrity of the image to crop it to a 36" x 24", then I can save the client a substantial amount of money by creating an LTP of that image, even if I include my usual mark up. In that case, we're all winners. I just explain that it doesn't work with all images (because of the cropping), but when it does, it's something we can take advantage of. It's really just a matter of communicating with the customer...they appreciate it, and I appreciate their business!
Hope this helps!
