Google + Question

I have searched the discussions and could not find what I was looking for. What are a few quick ways to use G+ to better market our work?

Do hash tags work?

How to use collections or discussions?

After being away fr G+ for a while, I am ready to use it more wisely now

hashtags work, in fact they give you ideas of what to use. this site however has issues with the window staying open.

collections are where you place certain kinds of people you want certain kinds of messages to go to. wanna share your story of how you banged your toe? that only goes to the group of people that care, and not the customers.

however i've been banned from that place once for an unknown reason. it might have been because i was friending too many people too fast? i never got the answer, ban was lifted, i've since ignored that site.

Hi Joseph, I have found that posting a low res watermarked image along with a sentence about the image and a link to your AW works well. You can also tag various daily themes for more exposure. If an admin chooses to feature your work in the theme's stream then you'll get a lot more exposure. Here's a link to the daily themes:

There are also people who curate and share circles and if you get into those your following will increase quickly. Hope this helps.

Google+ is going through some changes now, trying to get in on the Pinterest explosion; we'll have to wait to see how it all shakes out.

"For Google, the move is an attempt to revitalize its embattled social network, which has had trouble gaining the same kind of traction as Facebook or younger competitors like Snapchat."

Joe, sorry but the hash tags actually do NOT work on G+ despite what you may have heard. It's not tied to twitter :( However, *BOLD* type for specific keywords does help, as does italics since Google picks them up quickly.

I've found some fantastic G+ "how to" videos on You Tube, helpful tutorials on navigating and using your homepage to your advantage. It works....I am back logged this spring with my basic SLR workshops and the Advanced photography workshops I lead here in Connecticut. I've linked my G+ advertisements right to my "contact" page on my official website, then the E mails pour in.

Some basic knowledge about good SEO is helpful. Some positives: No need to play silly games, dump photos into "discussions", participate in faux contest or solicit votes/likes and faves in groups.

It took me a while to make a mental map of the site. I signed up a little over a year ago, and months later I finally began to upload some low res/watermarked prints. I'm no social butterfly, I log in sometimes only once a week but since last May I've accumulated a humble 650 followers (deleted several hundred along the way/another issue) and approaching 1.5 million views.

Unlike FB, you have full control over allowing Sharing of your post, muting comments, pinning your advertisements to your homepage and deleting/editing any time.

Hello Joseph!
I have a good bit of experience on G+. I find that some of the most important things are:
A. Hashtags, more specifically group hashtags. Moderators have pages and they feature your photos on them with the correct hashtag. Also, descriptions in your post.
B. Circles, this is how you can gain a large amount of followers, and even though a lot of the followers are pointless, you will definitely gain some great connections.
C. Communities, especially when you are first starting off. This is a great way to gain exposure and test the waters to see what G+ likes and doesn't like of your work.
I have been on the site over 2 years and have 28,000 followers, hope this helps!

Dan,

Google would do a lot better just to buy Pinterest.

Recreating that wheel is likely to fail. Just my experienced watching guess.
Actually Google projects almost always fail, the reason they get into those
projects though succeeds. Google is adding patents on how and where search
can be used, ie automated cars where people can surf the web. The car is not
really that successful for Google, but the patents on wiring a car for the web? Probably
worth far more to Google.

The hashtags work for the different photography communities. That is how they find your work, give comments, and ad to there photo of the week and so on. Otherwise they most likely wont see it. I was a moderator and curator for the the landscape photography community, theme and more. I still get added as a hashtag all the time. that is another thing that gets hash tagged. The moderators and curators. Easier for them to see your work that way.
All you need are clients

Have fun
