Appeal In Landscape Photography

I stumbled across this article in Outdoor Photographer and thought it might be of interest to some. The author's contention is that factors in our human evolutionary past help mold what appeals today in our landscapes, and hence should be considered when creating landscape photographs (or paintings, I presume). While I think there are many other factors that help make a great landscape, perhaps this perspective has some merit.

I subscribe and read this one a couple of weeks ago. It's interesting and may have some merit. I'm less interested in the "why" and more about what people are actually attracted to.
