Ideas On How To Get Rid Of Grey Scale Box On Photo File

A greyscale box appears only in FAA on my files (seems when I use the paint brush in GIMP). I tried cropping it off (placing crop around boundaries) that didn't work. Is there a way to work around this box? It's probably malware on my computer, although it only shows up on FAA. I haven't bought much needed file storage yet so I can put a new Windows7 on my laptop).

You are loading an image with border? Is it png?

Suzanne, have you had this problem before? I recall someone posting this in the forum before.

Abbie, yes the file is PNG. I'll try JPG. I can't see the border, only on FAA do I see it. Please see above for image (missed loading it).

Jessica, on one other file that I have hand painted (both are painted). I can't remember if I posted about it, may have.

It's showing as dark gray because it's a png file with a transparent area. When Sean enabled more colors than black or white, all of the colorless areas of an image now show as dark gray. Only when viewed on the product selection does it go away.

Sharon, I don't have a transparent border around my image (I think malware may be the offender, although now I'm not sure).

Hmm that is strange. For some reason it's treating it as if there's a transparent border. Maybe run a virus check or do a restore to a point when you didn't have this problem.

Sharon, Thanks, I'll give that a try, you are probably right about the malware.

Thank you everyone! I just tried the JPG Abbie, and it WORKED! I'm a happy camper.
