Profile Vs Website Issues

I have only been here a week or two, however, I am having some difficulty with switching from profile view to website view. When I first log in, it will bring me up to the profile view, but once I click to see the website view, I can no longer get back to the profile view. Also, with this problem, then I can't find any place to click to upload art outside of that profile view. So once I get stuck in the website view, I can't upload anything. I have to log out completely and log back in to get the profile view so I can upload art.

Use the drop down on the top right. See your name in the menu. Drop down there

If it were that simple I would not have started this thread. Once I use that drop down arrow and progress to "Behind the Scenes" and from there click on the website address, I can no longer return to my profile because it is no longer listed in the drop down menu. If it were, I would not have asked my questions. There should be upload options in the Behind the Scenes section so that we would not have to return to the profile page. But the profile page is the only place I have found that has the upload buttons, as well as the number of views. So what I am asking, is this a glitch or is there a different way to get back to the profile once you have gone to the actual website address and are viewing the actual artist website?

No there is no return link.

You do not have to use the drop down to get to the profile page. Just click on your name and it takes you right there and there is the upload link if you have you "Images" page set as the first page you see. If you have Galleries set, then all you have to do is click on Images. That is about as simple as it can get.

Cynthia, with all due respect, you have been here three weeks. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of users here and I have never seen this come up as a problem or as a suggestion in the nearly 3 years I have been here. Maybe you should give the site a bit more of a fair chance, as in at least a few more weeks.

After a few more weeks ( a couple of months would be better) it will all be easier and I am sure you will love it here like most of do. If not, at least you will have given it a fair an positive chance.

You have beautiful images. Welcome aboard and good selling to you!

Cynthia, by website view do you mean your artist website or the main FAA profile/website. I always stay on the FAA site unless I want to tweet or pin one of my images. Once I'm done on my artist website, I either hit the back button, which takes me to FAA..or click up on the url and start to type 'fineartamerica' and autofill takes over after a few characters.

I dont get logged out of FAA when I go to Behind The Scenes and click on my artist website. I stay logged in to FAA 24/7 with no problems, even when uploading photos. Only the Pixels site logs me off so I never go there. Hope this helps :)

Okay, first you don't have to be rude and insulting in answering questions.
Second, I am talking about the difference in the artist profile page and the artist website page. The artist profile page shows how many followers and how many views, is all white background, and has the upload buttons. Maybe this has not come up prior to this because maybe it is a simple glitch and hasn't been a problem before. Rudeness does not help solve problems.
Third, I am not an idiot. I know my way around websites, html, and have designed working websites for groups and individuals. I know how to use simple drop down buttons, and other features on a website. Whether or not any of you choose to view your artist website each time you login is up to you. I choose to look at it to make sure everything is still working properly.

Now if you want to address this issue I am having in a nice way, I appreciate all the assistance. It could very well be a glitch that just started. It might not be affecting everyone. And if you don't view your artist website, the one you set up yourself with your color choices, etc, you might not even notice it. Once again, though, I am not stupid and I know what I am doing here.

It does not matter what method I try to get to the profile where the upload buttons are, once I have clicked to view the artist website, the option to click on my profile disappears completely. I can click on my name, I can refresh, I can go back, but it won't show the profile. I have to completely log out and log back in again if I want to upload. Apparently there are no other upload buttons on this site than what is on our profile pages. Wouldn't it make sense to have upload buttons on the Behind the Scenes page as well?

@Sharon Norman, I don't get logged out either. What I said is that if I want to upload photos after I have checked the my colorful artist website, it will not allow me to get back to my profile page where the upload buttons are. If I want to upload further I must therefore log out and start all over.

One of the other reasons that I go to my artist website is to copy and paste the URL when I want to share it somewhere. This is where I first noticed the problem in that the profile page and the artist website were using the same URL which should not happen. The profile page should be slightly different than the artist website page.

Let's use Flickr as an example. The upload button is almost always available at the top of the page so that no matter where you are in Flickr, you can easily get to upload photos. You do not have to go to your photostream to get to the upload button. You don't have to go to any specific page just to get to an upload button. So, I am simply asking if there is another location on FAA that gives you access to the upload buttons since I cannot get to them once I have clicked on my artist website. And, is there a glitch because once I leave the all white my profile page, there is no going back for me. I have started trying to always keep two tabs open so that I do not lose that page and have to log out and back in again.

I think I see what you mean, Cynthia. Try clicking on the Home button on the left. That will take you back to the profile page of your artist website.

WRONG...disregard

SharaLee Art

Disregard that info. I understand now. Looks like you cannot upload any images via your artist website. It must have to be done on FAA because it is the website that populates Pixels and the AW's.

First, no one was being rude.

"I am talking about the difference in the artist profile page and the artist website page'

There are artist profile pages on two different FAA sites. But only one artist website page if you are referring to the Premium ArtistWebsite which is stand alone page with only your images on it. (The equivalent to the profile page is the Home page on your AW and no there is no upload link.)

No one that I know, uses the AW: ArtistWebsite page to do uploads. To my knowledge it was never intended for that and I don't even know if you can do it from the AW page.

The information I gave above was assuming you were logging into either FineArtAmerica or Pixels. I use Pixels exclusively because all the products show up there. The do not all show up on FineArtAmerica.

And no, there is not a direct link back and forth. It is designed that was so you have a captive audience on you AW.

The profile url and the image url is different. Just by looking at it, it does appear the same. Once you click in the browser url of the image, you should see that it's different.

@Sharon Norman, Thanks for your help. It doesn't seem like anyone else knows what I am talking about other than you. I appreciate your trying to understand. No, as far as I can tell, the only place that one can upload anything is on the "My Profile" page. I can't get back to the profile page unless I keep a separate tab in my browser open with the profile page on it. As long as I don't go to the My Artist Website link which can be found in the Behind the Scenes, I am okay. But once I go there and click that link, I cannot get back to My Profile. It doesn't matter if I click HOME or anything else. It just takes me to my green website page. Generally, on any website, when one clicks on HOME, it will take you to the main page of the website, meaning in this case, Fine Art America. But clicking HOME here takes me to my artist website, and not my profile.

I honestly do not understand why all the questions about other sites. I am only using the Fine Art America site because until yesterday I didn't even know that there were other sites connected to this. So of course, I am talking about Fine Art America and only Fine Art America.

Generally, on any website, when one clicks on HOME, it will take you to the main page of the website, meaning in this case, Fine Art America. But clicking HOME here takes me to my artist website, and not my profile.

There is not a whole lot I can say. Either you understand the question, or you don't.

And yes, Floyd, certain people here have been rude and condescending in their replies. Others have been trying to help and trying to understand. You were not one of those being rude.

@Sharon Norman, I forgot this comment in the above. When I first joined and created the artist website, I tried sharing both URL's on Facebook and Twitter by copying and pasting them. But on Facebook at least, it was coming up with the same page no matter which URL I used. Unfortunately, it wasn't the artist website that is green. It was the profile. I haven't tried it since. I just let the uploading do that.

Once you are on your AW, it's basically a separate site. Any button/menu is for that site only. It was designed that way so we can point people there without having competition from other artists. Once there you are 'stuck.' If you want to get back, yes, keep a window open for both FAA and your AW. Or, type in 'fineartamerica' in your browser to return to FAA. It is a pain which is why I rarely go there. I wish we could upload from our AW's but we'd be doing twice the work if we were able to.

I think I ran into that problem when I was trying to direct people to my AW from my dot com site. Everything I tried just led me to the main profile page. Eventually I had to click on Shop on my AW and select 'view all' so that it would display my specific images. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you Sharon!!! Yes, your answer makes sense. Thank you for understanding what I was talking about. It's very confusing since both the profile and the artist page look exactly the same apart from the color schemes, etc. I have several websites pertaining to my photography but haven't had this trouble before.

@Floyd and Sharon I always upload on my Premium Artist website page - click images and at the bottom it has Upload new image and I upload to that site and have had no problems with it showing on either the FAA site or Pixels - is that what what you both are talking about or am I misunderstanding?

Thanks Debbie! Thank you to all who have been helpful with this. If this thank you gets posted twice, it is because I posted it and it didn't show up so I am posting it again.
