Antonio Vivaldi, better than Bach or Mozart IMO.
Plini (progressive guitar instrumentalist, brilliant compositions)
Enigma, soulful and dynamic, haunting male and female vocals

I agree with Vivaldi and Mozart, but I would opt for Beethoven over Bach. Just me.

So who builds sound systems in to coffins?

John I am currently playing Plini. I like that a lot. Thanks,

I would lean heavily on classical. Two would likely be Handel and Vivaldi. That third spot is wide open...Jimmy Buffett, maybe? ; )

Arletta Cwalina

I like music thread
If you are trying to compare Violin(Vivaldi) and Piano(Chopin) That would be difficult. sort of like comparing apple and orange.
I love all string music. Piano is a string instrument. very hard to choose just 3
Agnes Obel ; Brother Sparrow

Chuck De La Rosa

This is kind of hard. These 2 will always be my top 2.

Alan Parsons
The Beatles

The 3rd choice for today is Chic Corea.

Next week I might chose Joe Pass as the 3rd, or Kansas, or the Moody blues.

Liz Leyden

Leonard Cohen
Simon & Garfunkel
Beatles

Vivaldi is a popular choice, Chopin is good too, but makes me depressed after a while with the sad piano. Vivaldi's cheery violin practically creates color when it is played and his music always changing, big swells, solo violin, slow, fast, you never know what is coming next.. I love that.

Dave it's my pleasure to introduce you and anyone to Plini, glad you like it. I'm listening now while creating an Egyptian themed piece.

This one's my favorite from Plini.

Liz,
Leonard Cohen original version of Hallelujah, so great. although I do enjoy Jeff Buckley's version as well

Gregory Scott

I'm playing the angles, looking for the greatest variety.
Therefore, my choices might be
Berlin Philharmonic
Robert Shaw Chorale
Some cover band with a wide repertoire?
I know this is sort of cheating with regard to the spirit of the OP, but I like playing the obscure strategy corners anyway.

VIVA Anderson

Rachmaninov
Bach
Bocconcinni

Why?

Because I've played them, know them intimately, thrived in my soul, on them.

Vivaldi is always in the background...of course

Leonard , yes !

I'll go with an artist I don't like...
If I had to listen to the same artist for the rest of my life, I am sure after about 6 months, they would feel so overplayed... I'd hate to ruin my memories of music I started off loving. But if I were forced to choose, I'd choose any major orchestra that had been around for a long time, and had played a wide variety of classical music. Or gypsies. I could listen to gypsy music for a long time.

Actually, I prefer not having music on all the time. I like being able to hear subtle stuff that goes on around me... just ambient noise, birds, people talking, rain, footsteps, airplanes, leaves in the wind...

The Beatles could almost be three artists unto themselves with such distinctive time periods and sounds

Marlene Burns

Joseph, are you leaving out Ringo??????

Patricia Strand

Poor Ringo :( For me, it would be silence. I have so many tunes in my head it would take the rest of my life on a desert island to get rid of them all. Music taste is so very subjective. There's nothing worse than having to listen to someone else's choices. Thank goodness for headphones.

If I had to choose, though, it would be by instrument. Classical all the way, strings. Any tune will do.

Joseph C Hinson

63 and 64
65, 66 and 67
68, 69 and 70

More or less the Beatles time periods as I think of them

Almost everything before the second half of the 90's.

:)

Mary Bedy

That's a tough question

Bach (I could not give up the Well Tempered Clavier)
Maybe Gershwin
Joni MItchell

Joy McKenzie

Bob Dylan

Itzak Perlman

Metallica

How's that for eclectic :) I chose favorites that have extensive catalogs, but there are so many more that I love. Tried to cover the spectrum of moods that would most definitely come up.

Roger Swezey

Stravinsky.......To stir me up

Debussy..........To calm me down

Janis Joplin......To SHOUT...

Boccherini

David Bridburg

Joseph was Paul better after the Beatles? Possibly.

Was Ringo better afterwards? Possibly?

Was George better after the Beatles? Definitely.

Was John better? John was more of John and that was always good enough.

Dave
