For Those Among Us, A Bit Sad And Some A Bit Of A Perfectionist...............

Here's a singer songwriter that I came across about 20 years ago and have most of his stuff. His early stuff is quite sad and has a function. I saw him about 10 years ago, right here in our small town and he talked about his depression and how he deals with it. Tiny place, not more than 100 people, if that, but very special night. If you like this guy, I can direct you to the first CD that I found him on...............Hope you enjoy

Rich,

He is upbeat funny and very good.

I walked into a local restaurant bar last week for a meal. It was a Friday night. There
was one table with a couple and one guy at the bar.

The singer/guitarist was doing his thing. He was killing the entire place. Yes
he was talented, but he put the D in depression. What a mess. He did
a Dylan song and I thought I was going to cry. He wrote most of his own
songs, which might have been a big mistake. Down, talk about down.

Kathy,

He's got some great songs/words and that's what I look for the words and then the song.

Dave, when this first CD came out, he was suffering from depression but when we actually saw him in person, in this little gathering, he was able to talk about it and from this video, seems to be handling it quite well!

Here's another singer/song writer that was on that first CD I bought 20+ years ago, John Gorka,

Rich,

Just saw the video...still playing in the background....

I have always wondered what it would be like to compose music lyrics......

The second video like the first is done by a talented guy.

But my take away after a lot of thought is I dont like slow ballads where things are explained
by the musician. It is not just non commercial. Not being commercial is okay. But it is to slow and
takes the audiences as slow.

I like the Ballad of John and Yoko. Or John's Dont Let Me Down. Or Working Class Hero.

I want more expressive more experimental music. All of these talented people are weaker
song writers.

I know very little about chords, but supposedly almost all rock is based on just three chords. It is overly
simplistic.

I know Rich, I know just sit back and listen.....the music is good......I am now listening to the second song on that
link. It is done by someone very talented as well.

Dave,

Gorka has some upbeat stuff, here's one:

They ALL seem a bit melancholy, which might be why I like them

Here'a another great songwriter/singer, someone we've ALL heard, Marc Cohn:

Can't listen to this AND not SING!
