Facebook No Longer Allowing Links From Faa??

When I try to post a link to FAA on my Fan Page, I get a message from Facebook saying that the content has been blocked by their security system. Anyone else?

Yes, they are now blocking FAA

I will let Sean know right now

Yep. I was able to post yesterday but not today.

Sounds like FAA's not the only one. A popular science-based page just mentioned on their FB page that they were having issues posting links:

"Folks please relax, everything is fine. Our links have been temporarily flagged by Facebook as "malicious". This often happens when we post about topics like vaccines and evolution. Facebook usually solves the problem when they get around to manually checking the reports."

Lots of folks have replied to their post, though, indicating it's pretty widespread.

i think they are blocking all content. i saw on another thing i'm on in facebook, and it blocked that as well. seems like a facebook issue, though not great for business either way.

After reading this I tried it...I posted a link from my FAA page to my FB fan page. It allowed me to do it and the link on my FB page says "Posted by FAA Like Application (?)"

As Mike said - all content - at least about 30 mins ago

I was just able to post a link to my fan page...

It's just another everyday hoop they want us to jump through.

I must have just gotten in under the line. My links seem to be operating.

Yes, it seems to be any damned thing you click on on any topic anywhere.

My FB is working just fine. No problems at all.

Not sure I understand the thinking that FB should exist for the pleasure of serving every one for free.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to pay to use it the way I have been using it any more then anyone else does. But they have every right to change their business model any way they want to try to make money. And we every right to not use the service anymore of pay up.

Actually I can see where a bunch of people that are currently using FB to promote their art, get mad and stop using it is a plus for FAA members. Well the ones that understand the last man standing theory anyway. It just may be worth paying for. :-)

I've been having trouble with my fan page and links for about 2 evenings. I have had to re load the page several times and it'll finally take it. Also, once the link finally loads, sharing it to my regular FB page is an exercise in patience, also. They're probably up to something again.

I just tried a test ... and the image did post for me and it did link back to it's Fine Art America spot.

It was all sites not just FAA.

If it happens again I suggest everyone just writing direct using their popup on the refusal. Complain.

Chrystyne Novack

It made the newsfeed. As stated it was all sites. "The problem seems to have begun last night with issues in Facebook's image-scraping system, which automatically pulls pictures from posted links." -------> story here for more info http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/30/8525239/facebook-bug-links-scraping

Abbie, I sent them some feedback yesterday concerning the problem I've had with FB since mid-March. No response back from them yet.

Joshua House

You've had a problem for a month and a half and only just told them yesterday yet you want them to fix it in hours?

Greg Jackson

No, not wanting them to fix it in hours, Joshua. Abbie has been diligently working behind the scenes with me via emails to resolve the problem. I just thought I would provide some additional feedback to FB in light of the recent bug they have. More fuel to the fire from the consumer side.

Abbie Shores

Yes Greg. Thankfully this one was fixed but we still need to sort you out. I sent them a complaint yesterday also.

Floyd Snyder

Not to mention that they probably got a zillion emails. Not sure they see the need to answer every single one of them.

But I guess I must be doing something wrong because I am still not seeing any problems. :-)

I thought FB was to eventually not allow links, their purpose being using advertising for that. I read in FB instructions businesses were to be listed only on the information page.

Mike Savad

i don't think that would ever work out for them though. the only thing left they have going for them is the ability to share junk people find on the net. and its doubtful they will start banning one place or another. but if facebook wants to die it can... there will always be others.

Interesting.

1.4 billion FB users worlod wide. They could lose 2/3 of them and still be huge. I don't think they are too worried too much about dieing off just yet.

In fact if they lost 2/3 and if just 1/4 of the half billion left started spending a few bucks with them, they would probably be better off.

This is all about stock holders value, it is not just about being the biggest kid on yhe sacial media block any more. They have a fiduciary responsibility to maximise stock holders value through proftis, not user.

Don't forget Facevook owns Instagram so keep an eye on that too ..... And FAA owns InstaPrints.com I'm seeing a hand-full of new members there each day without FAA marketing it.

Just getting ready to pull the trigger on FAA and purchase then I see this....opinions? Also was wondering do I get my own email address? This question is not addressed in the frequently ask questions.
TIA

this is a facebook thing, and its happening with all links. you don't get an email address.

Why would they provide you with an email address? It's not a hosting service.

Abbie Shores

I have a Facebook email yes but not sure if they stopped these now. It was a mask so people don't get your real one and for auto posting purposes.

Floyd Snyder

I am still not seeing what you are saying about FB links not working. My FB is working the exact same as it always has. What am I missing?

I really was looking for a site with my email included to make it look more professional . I was warned not to use gmail etc on a business card since it makes you look like its a hobby and not a "real" business. What do you all use as an email?

Frank J Casella

Linda -- Go to Mail.com they have a few hundred free custom email domains so that you have an unmistakable professional email domain.

EDIT: Mail.com is one of the top five free email providers, somewhere between gmail and aol.

"I really was looking for a site with my email included to make it look more professional ."

You need to have your own URL with your own email address, that is how you look professional. You do not want to own your own email, not rely on a service. I have had two services go belly up on me.

LindaVierow.com is not taken. Then you can be Linda@LindaVierow.com

I think GoDaddy is have a special on domain names right now.

Floyd is right that you want to have a different email address than your site. However, as an artist you should not have to pay for a custom domain, that is if your name is your Brand. You have your artistwebsite or you could get a free website at WordPress.com ( which includes a built in email subscription widget ) or Tumblr.

Personally, I dumped my custom domain over a year ago and haven't noticed a difference. I use about.me as the web address on my business cards and this works like a homepage for me. You can learn more about it at the links I posted at top. This platform also puts my Brand at the top when you search my name along with my WordPress and Tumblr. Hope the is helpful to you, Linda.

Sharon -- sorry for being off topic, I'll shut up now ( unless someone asks me a question ).

Judy -- Yes, it is a mail account like your att or and aol but for business purposes. ... yet, you can pull mails from other accounts into it. Want to know more send me a DM so we don't throw this thread off topic. Thank you very much! Enjoy your day!
