Google's New Mobile Emphasis On Searchs

I was wondering if anyone knew what FAA was doing to address Google's new emphasis on mobile friendliness with regard to search prioritization? Are we already maximized to get the most hits when someone is searching for our art on FAA or Pixels? That, plus I just saw two commercials for art.com. Really nicely done. These were on over the air major network channels (no cable or satellite). I have never seen an FAA commercial on TV. Art.com supports RisingArtist.com (don't let artists control their prices-not a good idea). I didn't see either topic listed so was wondering what people were thinking if they have heard about Google or seen the art.com ads.

Bear in mind that Google's new policy on mobile friendly search rankings only kicks in when someone searches on a mobile device. Even so, I rather resent Google's policy on this because it forces web designers to dumb down their page designs to accommodate mobile devices. I'm seeing a lot of websites now, including Google's own pages, that look like throwbacks to the plain vanilla designs of the late 1990s.

I've noticed, since April 21st, that my traffic from mobile devices has increased in my stat counter and I'm not mobile friendly as yet.....go figgur.

I see the ad for the Pixels.com app frequently. It's well-done. I wish my art was in it, but you can't have everything. :)

I'll have to keep an eye on my google stats and see if there is any change. I agree with James. The sites look very plain vanilla. I imagine that makes things faster on mobile.
I get just 15 channels over the air so I am a poor one to determine if FAA is making commercials (or Pixels). Just saw the one for Art.com and thought it was pretty slick and very well done. Made me go and look! I think FAA is far more in the artist's court than art.com and I will stay right here.
Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear from everyone.

So when you are talking about your Google Stats, I assume you are talking about for your private websites and not for FAA itself? I do have a mobile-friendly website, but don't have my art on it yet (I'm a tech writer/instructional designer and writer and right now, I use it for those, but plan to add my art soon.) Just curious if somehow you were looking at Google stats for your FAA page and how someone would even find that on Google. Just trying to learn....

I just looked at my google numbers for mobile devices.and 46% come from Ipads and 34% is from Iphones and the rest seem to be flavors of Samsungs... Mine has to be in there somewhere.
On my Zenfolio site I got rid of the slide show for an impressive static image (www.vistaphotography.com) and that site comes up more often in image search for my key words and phrases.
MY AW.. not so much all, like one image in a hundred is from my AW site.
So I don't worry about what my site is doing...

But in looking over my Google Analytics numbers since 1 April... 344 page views from 111 people and that is the reason that I have no sales since March. I market through blogs and social media and it seems the market for art customers is just not there recently.

But the larger problem is still my perception that all image searches brings customers to pixels/FAA but not to me.

So do I worry about the mobile set up here..? hell no... I have this website because it's only $30 a year and looks nice... But so far this year (my 3rd) it's not doing anything,

I did run my AW site through the mobile checker and it barfed all over FAA's site, citing a backend error, But on the second try it did come back mobile friendly with errors, FAA is blocking all the social media links in some fashion but overall Google is giving it a passing grade.

Jeff of the bad attitude...
