House And Garden?

So I got an email through FAA from House and garden in the UK. I guess trying to get me to buy an ad in their magazine.
Site seems legit, anyone else get this?

I am contacting you from House and Garden to find out more about yourself and your unique artwork.

I have come across your striking paintings online and I think that they would hugely appeal to our 612,000 affluent readers, who look to House and Garden for unique masterpieces and designs to add a touch of novelty to their homes!

I am currently putting together an advertorial page called 'A Blank Canvas', which will showcase a range of different artists. House and Garden has, for 67 years, set the gold standard in design and decoration for the home and garden, and I truly believe that you are perfect for this page, our campaign and our design-loving readers.

If you think that this might be of interest to you, and you would like me to send you some more information and rates, please do let me know.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Kindest Regards,

Stephanie

Since Stephanie likes your paintings that much, I would send her a email telling her your paintings would be a great addition to her home and the value will increase with time. also tell her to pass on your site to her friends and family members and with every painting sold through her network you will give her an commission!

I've had similar emails that were legit and resulted in sales. But, before I responded to them, I pulled up the company website and made sure I found the employee I had been contacted by and matched up the email to their contact email address. Hopefully, you could do the same if you have Stephanie's last name.
If it's all legit, it wouldn't hurt to get further information & see what it's all about!

Was the email addressed to you personally and did she include the website and business email address? It would seem legit.

This is the email sent through FAA to me ( http://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/ ) seems legit, I didn't speak to her so I don't have any answers. It seemed like an ice breaker email to me as well, just wanted to see if everyone was getting them.

sounds more like they are selling advertising space. the wording in that seems odd. like a foreigner with a dictionary tried to spice it up. you can always ask, it doesn't hurt to try.

House and Garden has been around for years. It's the sort of mag you see in dentist's waiting rooms and people browse at the checkout at Waitrose when paying for their canapes. It would be interesting to see how this develops. It could be a great break to get your work more exposure.

Very late to this party, but . . .

The wording of the mail you received doesn't sound odd to me, but it does sound link a pretty typical pitch for ad sales, and I'd imagine ad space in any version of H&G (UK or otherwise) will cost a mint.

From discussions on other art forums, and some recent art marketing research, I've heard that ads in upscale mags aren't anywhere near as effective as having your work show up in one of the magazine's many home interior photographs. It's likely that affluent readers don't normally look to magazine advertisements to buy their artwork -- relying instead on galleries, decorators, and friends and family word-of-mouth.
