Dog Flu Spreading In The Midwest

Didn't read the article because I don't have dogs or cats at the present time, but sometimes these things can spread even if your animal doesn't have direct contact with others. Ii never had a dog with fleas until I moved to a small town, then my dog got them big time just from being in the back yard (fenced) and with no contact I know of with other animals....they must have just been in the environment....in any case, I hope it dies out quickly.

Mary I have had the same experience with fleas. Never had them until moving into town.

Thanks, Andee, this is in my 'back yard' so to speak. So we've cut down on walks and keeping the dogs on our property .... ( and ) where other dogs don't go while on their walks.

Mary fleas are in the grass in some places and they hop a ride that way and then we can bring them in on our clothes to even indoor only animals. :(

Yeah, my poor gordon setter had flea dermatitis from it. Flea bathed him a few times and bought some tea tree oil to spray on him. His skin and coat fully recovered, but the poor dog was miserable for about a month, with big clumps of his hair missing in spots.I used that flea and tick oil on his neck from then on and that took care of it.
